Get away for a relaxing country break at this stone cottage in the pretty village of Monyash, just 100 metres from the village pub with views across the neighbouring countryside. It’s the perfect rural retreat for friends or family looking for a stylish base for exploring the Peak District, with lovely traditional features, a cosy wood burner, three flexible twin/super-king-size bedrooms, and an enclosed courtyard garden.

The cottage has been stylishly furnished and has many traditional features, like the wooden floors and beams in the lounge, relaxed contemporary styling, a wood burner, plush sofas, and a Smart TV. The spacious kitchen/diner has lots of space for storing ingredients and preparing delicious meals to eat together at the rustic dining table. There’s a handy WC on the ground floor. Upstairs, you’ll find three inviting bedrooms, all of which can be set up as super-king-size or twin rooms on request. The stylish bathroom features a bath and a separate shower. Head outside through the French doors in the lounge and up the stone steps to the enclosed patio where you can enjoy drinks and nibbles at the picnic after a fun day of exploring.

The popular towns of Bakewell (5 miles) and Buxton (8.5 miles) are within easy reach, both are great starting points for walks including the Monsal Trail and Lathkill Dale, and there are beautiful walks throughout the Peak District. Trying the famous Bakewell pudding is a must, and there’s lots to see in Buxton, home to an Opera House, Solomon’s Temple, and Poole’s Cavern. Visit Chatsworth House (9 miles) and Haddon Hall (7 miles), and the Blake Mere Mermaid Pool with its fascinating legend (9 miles). You might also want to explore the disused Magpie Mine to understand the area’s industrial past (2 miles).

Had the best 2 weeks at Twitter Barn. Cottage was spotless, kitchen equipped with everything you could need with high end appliances. Communication with owners Julie and Andrew was excellent. Twitter Barn in Monyash is a great location if you're staying in the Peak District and also has a great local pub and cafe.

Twitter Barn is a fantastic place to stay. Nestled in the Peak District, within 30 mins drive of loads of attractions. The cottage itself is without doubt the cleanest, most well equipped place we have stayed. It was so comfortable with so many thoughtful touches such as slippers to wear upstairs on the carpeted areas which was a hit with the kids.Read more There is a small outdoor area which is so sunny and a BBQ is available for use.
