The house is fabulous! It's also huge (there are 17 of us and the house still felt incredibly spacious), really lovely and comfortable without being so posh you're on edge the whole time and can't relax. It's very well equipped with everything we could possibly need, and also really interesting; there's so much to see, you could go back 10 times anRead mored still discover new things. And this may sound a bit random, but the downstairs loo is brilliant - if you book this house you will see what I mean! To say there is plenty of outside space is quite an understatement, and you can happily spend the day playing croquet, basketball, football, or just reading on the comfortable garden furniture. We had a brilliant weekend and wouldn't hesitate to go back. Hide

We very much enjoyed staying in this grand and welcoming house, in its peaceful yet accessible setting. It is well equipped and comfortable. There was also lots to do nearby, including walks in the peaks, exploring small towns and local industrial heritage, with cities and destinations like the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in easy reach. A very beautiful and characterful old house with a friendly feel, which was warm and comfortable in fairly chilly weather conditions at the start of the holiday and gave our large party a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. The property was very very well equipped with everything one could possibly need. The house was filled with characterful art worksRead more, some by Mel Brooke. The downstairs rooms benefitted from beautiful fresh flower arrangements, presumably by Mel also. One of our party summed up by saying that it was a privilege to stay in such a beautiful old house, evidently prepared by the private owners with love and care. The Heronry in the large pine tree in the garden, containing 5 herons nests was of great interest to the wild life observers in our party. Hide
