This cottage is ideal for a family but also doubles as a peaceful couples’ retreat at the heart of the Peak District National Park. Based on the fringes of Ashford in the Water, you’ll soon be discovering remarkable sights such as the Monsal Dale Headstone Viaduct 1 mile away or strolling through the pretty streets of Bakewell 2 miles away. Load up with local treats and return to your comfortable property to enjoy relaxing evenings by the fire, or perch outside with a glass of wine to admire the views.

Sleeping five, the cottage is traditional and welcoming with an original stone exterior, timber beams and decor to match. Cosy up in the lounge/diner with tea and cake by the wood burner, test your culinary skills in the kitchen and choose to dine in style around the table or eat alfresco on the patio. Three simple yet comfortable bedrooms provide restful sleeping quarters across the ground floor and upstairs, two of which have en-suite facilities. There’s another bathroom too, and the views from the windows are seriously impressive.

Imagine navigating the countryside with a picnic in tow, or ambling through Ashford in the Water to have lunch in the pub. The youngest members of your party will love playing Poohsticks from the bridge, and the nearby walks are suitable for little legs too. Bakewell is not only famous for its tart, but this quintessential town has a thriving art scene and plenty of shops to satisfy any retail therapy enthusiast. The cottage was lovely, well equipped and well presented. There were lots of useful items in the kitchen. I think the only thing missing was a salad spinner

The pillow cases in the main bedroom were extremely dirty and should have been changed long ago.

We had a great stay at this property which is ideally located for lots of lovely walks and visits to nice towns on those wet weather days. There were two good pubs nearby and we ate at both and really enjoyed both meals. The property itself was really well equipped, great shower over bath in the upstairs bathrooms and ground floor walk in shower. TRead morehere was a nice outside seating area - unfortunately the weather didnt play ball the week we visited so we only managed to sit out once! Hide
