Located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, this beautiful stone-built cottage is the perfect rural retreat for a couple or solo traveller to come and enjoy its cosy ambience and lovely shared garden in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside.

Stepping inside, you'll find a bright and airy kitchen with space to store coats and shoes, as well as everything you need to prepare delicious meals. The kitchen leads to an inviting lounge/diner with exposed beams, supple leather seating around the smart TV, and a warming electric wood burner. A dining table under the large windows provides the setting for meal times. Upstairs, a bathroom and a sunlit super-king-size bedroom await, boasting views out over the surrounding countryside. Outside, the pretty shared garden features a wooden bench on which to sit back and appreciate the tranquillity of this peaceful Derbyshire locale.

The area has a rich history and serves as an ideal retreat for walkers, cyclists, and enthusiasts of charming villages and historic homes. The village boasts two inviting pubs, and a local microbrewery is less than a mile away, as is the picturesque Lumsdale Falls, a designated World Heritage site. Matlock, an old spa town, sits within 2 miles, while the dramatic limestone cliffs of Matlock Bath are nearby too. Matlock is also home to Lovers' Walks, a picturesque path running along the banks of the Derwent River. Alternatively, take a cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham (3.5 miles) for a panoramic view of the surrounding area. For water sports enthusiasts, Carsington Water, 8 miles away, features an excellent water sports centre. The majestic Chatsworth House, with its roaming deer and beautiful gardens, awaits 11 miles from home, and picturesque Bakewell, renowned for its famous pudding, is 10 miles from your door.

Great cottage with everything we needed. Hilary and Malc made us very welcome and had good local knowledge on where to go in the Peak District. We would definitely recommend Mews cottage to anyone.

The property is entered by a narrow drive and there is parking space. The owners live next door and are very friendly, helpful and a delight to talk to. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. Tansley is a quiet spot with an excellent pub/restaurant 4mins walk away - The Gate Inn. It is very popular and so wise to book for a meal. A lovely cottage nice walk to the New Inn pub which has a good meal selection the roast dinners are huge Hilliary and Malcolm are excellent hosts location is good for bakewell and Llam park and dovedale lovely walks would use the cottage again
