PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY AND IF YOUVE ALREADY BOOKED IT WE STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT YOU CANCEL IT IMMEDIATELY. WE ARE EXPERIENCED AND REPEAT CUSTOMERS OF HOLIDAY COTTAGES AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TOTALLY SATISFIED UP TO THIS POINT. HOWEVER WHAT WE EXPERIENCED AT THIS PROPERTY WAS THE FOLLOWING AND SO SEVERE THAT WE CAME HOME AFTER SLEEPING IN OUR Read moreCLOTHES ON THE BED FOR ONE NIGHT. WE EXPERIENCE THE FOLLOWING: Black mould and cracked woodwork around the windows in the bedroom and lounge. The black mould had transferred onto the curtains. There were large mould stains on the bedroom walls. In the fireplace there were big clumps of black mould on the back wall. The mattress protector and the duvet cover were bloodstained. The plaster work was cracked and deteriorating throughout the cottage. The entire cottage was filthy with cobwebs covering the ceilings and dust so thick on surfaces it looked like fluff. There was a filthy black bone shaped mat with big white dog hairs on it in the kitchen. There was an all pervading smell of mould and the sofas in the lounge and the bedroom smelled of something like sweaty feet and the plug ins provided by the owner were not able to mask the stink. The description of the property and its photos are entirely misleading as inside it is a dark, gloomy environment. The views are not as suggested in the description. There is no way we would have booked this property if we'd known what it was really like. Please don't book it - you'll be so disappointed. Hide

We could not fault Top Cottage, it was warm, comfortable and clean. This very well equipped cottage was perfect as a base to explore the Peak District, with many walks direct from the door. The villagers were welcoming and we felt at home right from the minute we arrived.

A lovely stay that was not spoiled by the occasional drizzly day. The seating area outside is a lovely sun trap. Plenty of areas for walking our dog. The Ashford Arms do a substantial Sunday lunch and the Bulls Head has a good choice of beers.
