This romantic bolthole is perfect for a couple of walking enthusiasts seeking a restorative getaway in nature. Gear up for a scenic peddle through the Derbyshire Dales on the traffic-free Tissington Trail, then snuggle up in front of the crackling fire pit and toast with a glass of fizz as the sun dips below the horizon.

This elegant lodge is beautifully designed to fully utilise the compact space. Saunter along the patchwork stone path then slide off muddy boots before stepping through the stable door into the open-plan living space. After a day in the hills, refresh with a relaxing shower before settling in for the evening. Throw a log on the wood burner then prepare a simple supper for two in the crisp country kitchen with sleek wooden worktops. Select your favourite tipple and pour a couple of glasses then dine at the intimate table and bask in the warmth of the fire. We have just had a three night break at the shepherds hut for my birthday. Gorgeous setting, little private garden and seating area with beautiful views of the countryside. The hut is well equipped with everything we needed and the bed was so comfy, slept really well. The owners are very friendly and helpful but respected our privacy. Not far from Read morethe Tissington Trail and places to visit such as Ilam and Ashbourne. Perfect stay in a perfect location, we will definitely return. Hide

Needs better cleaning & care - there were noticeable cobwebs over the bed. Despite the reviews we got no welcome or hamper, in fact we left early because we felt unwelcome. As a POC, the nearby towns/villages were full of people that clearly dont like others - faces visibly dropping when serving us, people pointing with snide smiles and snickering,Read more etc. If youre a POC then I wouldnt recommend the area. This is honestly one of the nicest huts I've ever stayed in. It had everything we needed and was so so cozy. Loved the little touches, the soap was lovely the hamper was delicious loved the homemade bread and cake and the shower gel was also really nice. Would recommend!

Shepherds Hut was amazing - really cosy and warm when the fire was going. The welcome hamper left by the owners was lovely. Bread and cake were great! Owners provided loads of useful info and were very friendly. The location was great and really handy to do walks in the area - in the middle of a few places to walk and only 30 mins to places like BuRead morexton and Bakewell. Hide

We loved the shepherds hut! It had everything we needed for a break away. It's cosy and quiet and the neighbouring calves were gorgeous. Cathy was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The homemade hamper with beautiful bread, cake and preserves, even milk and butter were so thoughtfully there too. All delicious. We found the walking books and Read morepamphlets very useful and were glad we had taken our bikes due to our close proximity to the Tissington Trail. We would definitely recommend it. Hide

The shepherds hut is in an ideal location for walking in the Dales. It was an absolute pleasure to stay here and the host hospitality is second to non. I would absolutely recommend staying here. The shepherds hut is also very well appointed and extremely comfortable.

Lovely location, shepherds hut was brilliant and well equipped. Lovely touch was a basket left with home made bread, jam, marmalade, eggs, butter and a wonderful homemade cake. Close to some lovely days out would recommend to anyone wanting to get away.

The hostess went above & beyond to make our stay memorable, comfortable and the best it could be. The hut itself is well equipped with everything you need for a short break, including a comfy bed. The shower is a bit tight but still a great use of space & we'd recommend this property.

Amazing stay! The cottage was clean and had all the necessary equipment. The hosts were helpful but respected our space. They have a very cute dog that comes to visit. The welcome basket was also filled with delicious treats!

We had an absolutely lovely stay. The hut is so cute and clean and has everything you need. It was lovely to turn up to homemade bread, jam and cake. Incredible experience, views stunning, cottage was spotless when we arrived with everything you could ask for provided for a lovely weekend away. The small things like a loaf of bread and some butter was lovely as was the presentation of the patio area. Overall, one of the best stays I have ever had.

Both quality and tastefully set up. Had to sit on the chair to access the fridge but that's down to my dodgy knees. Paving slabs were very slippery outside when wet. I managed to slip over onto my bum with Martin having to pick me up.

Had a brilliant weekend, food package is an excellent personal touch from a lovely friendly owner who was more than happy to tell us places to go for cycling and walking . The hut is well equipped and clean and tidy. I would highly recommend staying here and we cant wait to go back

We had a lovely stay in the Shepard hut and had a great time enjoying the area. The hut is very well equipped and makes for a perfect cosy getaway. We especially liked the little extras we found on arrival like homemade bread and jams. A very nice touch. We will definitely return in future.

We just got back from a weekend from this lovely hut. It was a really relaxing place and would definitely go again. The hut was well equipped with everything we needed, we can't fault it. My partner and I have stayed in a few of these shepherd's huts and I can honestly say, this is one of the best. It is the only one we have stayed in that has a shower, that has wifi, a TV. The cottage is well arranged and doesn't feel cramped at all. It has lots of light and all the amenities of home. There's space for your luggage without it taking up space. This hut is the perfect spot for a week getaway! It came equipped with everything you could need (including a delicious homemade cake) and the owners were incredibly friendly and helpful. I cycled to the hut and it served as a great base to explore the Peak District from on my bike.
