This beautiful cottage is located just outside the chocolate-box village of Ashford-in-the-Water and sleeps four guests. You’ll have a fabulous choice of walks directly from your front door, through the spectacular Derbyshire countryside. The village has great links with the traffic-free Monsal Trail, and is also just 3 miles from Bakewell, the Peak District’s epicentre for outdoor activities. For a slice of history, head to 900-year-old Haddon Hall (5.5 miles).

The characterful cottage has the perfect mix of rustic charm and contemporary style, creating a cosy, home-away-from-home vibe. After a long walk, curl up on the sofa in the lounge in front of the wood burner with a cuppa and a good book. The light and bright dining area has a large table and elegant chairs, so you can all congregate to enjoy delicious meals together and plan your next adventure. The property has a large, enclosed garden, with a BBQ and beautiful, mature borders. Here, you can dine alfresco at the picnic bench and soak up the tranquil surroundings or relax with a glass of wine in the sunshine before retiring upstairs to one of the comfortable bedrooms.

Take the time to explore Ashford-in-the-Water, where you’ll find quaint limestone cottages and immaculate floral displays. The village has one of the most photographed bridges in the country – Sheepwash Bridge – so be sure to pay it a visit for a game of Pooh sticks or a peaceful picnic on the nearby grassy riverbank. There are endless walking trails branching out from the village, including to the popular beauty spot of Monsal Head (2 miles), where you can marvel at the impressive views down the valley, towards the iconic viaduct. The cottage was lovely. Very clean & comfortable. Very well appointed with everything you need. It is in fantastic location with some great walks straight from the doorstep. We happened to stay during a heatwave and the cottage was lovely and cool, but I am sure it would be lovely and cosy in cooler weather with the log burner roaring. Fabulous cottage, great location for exploring the Peak District in and around Bakewell. Walking distance to two great pubs The cottage itself was very comfortable and clean, bathrooms great, bedrooms great, downstairs areas .... great. The hosts could not have been more helpful during our stay. And dog friendly. We loved our stay.

Nice cottage , but our stay spoiled by repetitive heating issues, faulty smoke alarm , poor WiFi and road noise. Not a great location.

Beautifully kept cottage with all amenities you could need, in a fantastic location just a short walk from Monsal Head. Cosy and comfy accommodation with a wood burner in the heart of the peaks, what more could you need. Looking forward to a return trip!

3 star, not 4! The courtyard garden very scruffy & totally overgrown unlike the brochure photos. The utility outhouse dirty and features an ancient box freezer. The kitchen requires attention especially tatty fridge with door not closing properly. There was a paucity of tea & hand towels. The featured comfortable high backed dining chairs in the hoRead moreliday brochure have been replaced with hard wooden chairs and dining table iextremely scruffy. The lounge is small & dark but bedrooms are lovely. Hide

Brilliant location, lots to do in the surrounding area BUT be careful with the road as it very busy and narrow / don't recommend walking along it.

A lovely cottage which has everything you need, including an enclosed outside space. The cottage is spacious, well equipped, spotlessly clean, has a lovely log burner, comfortable beds and great bathrooms. The showers were hot and powerful, the power can also be adjusted and the bath was the perfect size for a comfortable soak. Located close to BakRead moreewell and Ashford in the Water with lots of great walks and places to visit. I would recommend this cottage. Hide
