Discover the Peak District National Park from the vantage point of this charming, converted barn sited within the Hope Valley. Centrally located with nature’s playground on your doorstep, this rural retreat is ideal for families and groups of friends reconnecting over exciting walks and hearty pub lunches. A 0.5-mile drive will bring you into the centre of Hope, a pretty village with a fascinating history and plenty of spots to grab a bite to eat.

Packed with character, the property sleeps six and has many period features including beams, stone-flagged floors and vaulted ceilings. A fine example of open-plan living, there are sofas and an impressive Yorkshire range fireplace for relaxing evenings, and a handy table that’s perfect for family dining. Pleasantly presented, the first-floor bedrooms are comfortable and inviting with a variety of sleeping arrangements to suit your group. There is a generous bathroom for soothing tired limbs, and outside, you’ll have access to the shared orchard garden and grounds.

Picturesque and peaceful, the ancient village of Hope has much to offer in the way of history, having been mentioned in the Domesday Book. Today, the village is best known for its selection of shops and pubs, not to mention the popular annual beer festival and rolling calendar of events. Enjoy fantastic walks from your doorstep including the iconic Pennine Way, or take things up a notch and scale Kinder Scout 9 miles away. If this is too strenuous for little legs, change pace and treat the youngest members of your party to a fun day out at Poole’s Cavern 8 miles away, or Chatsworth Farmyard 12.5 miles away.

Cottage was in a great location for many walks. The walk into Hope took about 20 minutes downhill and there were lovely views across the valley. Walked to the Cheshire Cheese pub in Hope which was lovely and food delicious, especially the Roast on Sunday. Transport links with the train station down the road was great for us too. Lovely cottage, well equipped and comfy beds. Beautiful views across the hills from the shared garden. If you have dogs, be aware the garden isn't fully enclosed, and there are chickens running loose. We always had to keep one dog on a lead in the garden which was a shame.

Very comfortable cottage in nice location. Signage to cottage could be improved by map showing location relative to Aston Village. Great walks from door e.g. Win Hill and back via reservoir and woodland; walk along Bamford Edge via Thornhill; riverside trail to Grindleford then back by train. 15 minutes walk from station across fields (25 minutes bRead morey road with luggage). We took train to Hathersage to do Stanage Edge. Spar and other shops in Hope about 1 km away. Treak cavern visit great. Hide

A clean and comfortable cottage in a great location on the side of Win Hill. Peaceful cottage in a beautiful area with lovely views from the garden. Perfect location for walkers, we left the car unused for several days. The cottage was warm and comfortable - might be rather tight on space for 6 adults. Helpful owners who were on hand if needed.
