This traditional red-brick cottage sits in the characterful market town of Wirksworth. Sleeping up to two guests, it’s the perfect base for couples planning days of adventure across Derbyshire and the Peak District National Park. Wirksworth’s centre is just a stroll away and buzzes with independent shops, cafes and galleries lining its cobbled streets. Surrounding the town are scenic trails that branch off into the countryside. Join one of these routes north of town and follow the River Derwent to the historic village of Matlock Bath and on to the county town of Matlock (both within 5 miles). Popular attractions here include the scenic Heights of Abraham. Cross into the dramatic Peak District, where historic towns such as Bakewell and Buxton await within 20 miles, along with iconic stately homes including Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall (both within 14.5 miles).
Step through the yellow doorway of this charming home and be greeted by chic, rustic interiors that blend vintage fixtures with modern comforts. The cosy lounge/diner invites you to unwind between days of adventure; sink into the plush seating, flick on the Smart TV, and fire up the wood burner on chillier days. A cute wooden dining table sits to one side beside the window, offering the perfect spot to plan tomorrow’s itinerary while enjoying meals cooked up in the adjoining kitchen. The kitchen is compact yet full of character, featuring wooden units combined with pops of colour and all the appliances needed for a self-catered stay. When it’s time to call it a night, head up to the first floor and retire to the stylish king-size bedroom. This restful space features soft hues and natural materials designed to lull you into a great night’s sleep. Completing the home is a contemporary shower room with a walk-in shower and WC.
While there is no outdoor space at the cottage, its central location places you perfectly for peaceful morning walks and post-dinner strolls around Wirksworth. On-street parking is subject to availability. There is a parking permit for limited free parking at the two pay and display car parks - this is free between 3pm and 11am.
