Make the most of town and country with this charming property for four on the eastern edge of the Peak District National Park and only 7 miles from Sheffield’s city centre. Enjoy the great outdoors by day with long country walks amongst the picturesque landscape, and by night, enjoy the cosmopolitan lifestyle with food and drinks in the bars and restaurants of Sheffield. Alternatively, you may prefer to soak up the rural surroundings of the property and wander down to one of the local pubs for a quiet pint of ale.
This traditional stone cottage has been beautifully renovated to accentuate the original features whilst creating a comfortable home for the modern visitor. Exposed beams, open fireplaces and traditional farmhouse furniture add character throughout, but taller guests will need to be careful of the reduced height in some rooms. Start your day with a hearty breakfast cooked up in the spacious kitchen/breakfast room, plan your adventures in the separate dining room and spend colder evenings snuggled up in the lounge in front of the roaring wood burner. When it’s time to retire, head up one of the two staircases to the two bedrooms, which both have en-suites. Outside, there is a delightful patio for morning coffees or al fresco meals.
Outdoor enthusiasts will feel at home in the Peak District, as it offers walking, cycling, canoeing, climbing and caving opportunities amongst spectacular surroundings. Be sure to explore Hope Valley (9.5 miles), which is home to many well-known routes/trails such as Winnats Pass and the gorgeous Mam Tor and the Great Ridge. You must also visit Edale (18.5 miles) where the Pennine Way begins. For something more sedate, the grounds of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within 13 miles, or for the more adventurous head underground at the showcaves at Castleton (7.5 miles).
