Local spots of interest including the Nine Ladies Stone Circle (5 miles) and medieval Haddon Hall (4.5 miles) are well worth a visit, as is Chatsworth House (8 miles) which has featured on the big screen. From here, head to Curbar Edge (10.5 miles) to walk The Edges or look for bluebells in the pretty Burrs Wood (12.5 miles).

Calendar Cottage was lovely, we had amazing weather so were able to enjoy our Gin & tonic at the end of the day in the secret garden, which was adorable and not at all inconvenient. The beds were very comfortable and so were the sofas. If we go back to that area we would definitely book that cottage again.

Lovely cottage, really well-equipped and clean, with very comfortable beds. Superb location for walking with loads of footpaths to choose from around the village and beautiful places to visit nearby. Handy to be near Youlgrave which has a couple of shops, cafe, pubs and a post office. Only minor drawbacks: garden not actually adjoining the cottage,Read more and slight lack of privacy due to being in a closely built terrace, but these are very minor and wouldnt stop us from returning. Stunning cottage in a picturesque location lots to visit and explore especially the English Heritage sites which are dotted about the only downside is my husband is 6ft tall and because of the nature of cottages there is not much head space when going through doors!!! but it adds to the charm the garden is gorgeous with stunning views.
