This pretty stone cottage, in the heart of the picturesque town of Bakewell, sleeps three guests. The property is perfectly placed just 100 metres from the town’s fantastic selection of independent shops and eateries. From the town, take a stroll along the traffic-free Monsal Trail or hop in the car to the spectacular Chatsworth House (4.5 miles), where you can while away many hours exploring the impressive rooms and majestic grounds.

The property has bags of character, thanks to features such as the fabulous exposed beams, original stonework and beautiful ornamental fireplace. The lounge is a warm and inviting spot in which to snuggle up after a day’s hiking; unwind on the plump sofas in front of the roaring wood burner to watch your favourite programme on the Smart TV/DVD. Upstairs, you’ll find two pretty bedrooms: a double with fabulous views over the town and a single which has a PlayStation to keep kids entertained. To the rear of the cottage is a small outdoor area that provides a secure place to store bikes.

There’s so much to see and do in Bakewell, the largest town in the national park. Wander along the narrow streets and admire the photogenic stone buildings, browse the many artisan shops, stroll along the river and marvel at the five-arched bridge or pop into a cafe to sample the town’s iconic pudding. The town is the start of the Monsal Trail, which is an 8.5-mile track that follows a former railway line through the spectacular limestone dales. It’s traffic free, making it perfect for walkers and cyclists. For wild and rugged walks with nature, journey to Longshaw Estate (9 miles) to discover 1,600 acres of moorland, gritstone edges and ancient woodland, as well as jaw-dropping views over the Derwent Valley.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 king-size and 1 single

A great cottage, in a perfect position, for exploring Bakewell and other areas in the Peak District. The local buses are great for visiting other villages, with only an hours bus ride to Chatsworth. Also great for local walks I would definitely recommend this cottage. We had a fab time. Thank you

A really lovely cottage tucked away just behind the main street in Bakewell. Despite the proximity to the centre it was incredibly quiet. We always found a parking space not too far away and were able to park at the door while we loaded and unloaded. The cottage itself is beautifully designed, cosily warm with very responsive heating. A lovely comfy cottage in a great position. It had everything we needed and plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space. We parked up the hill which was easy and fine. We could also briefly stop outside to load and unload luggage which wasnt a problem. Lots of walks from the doorstep and plenty of places to eat out.

Perfect location for enjoying Bakewells pretty shops and riverside walks. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well presented. Being an old cottage the living room is a little dark, but there is a log burner for cooler evenings and the bedrooms and kitchen were bright and cheery. The front door opens onto a quiet street. A comfortable and cosy cottage in a fantastic location with lots of amenities close by. The kitchen was well-equipped and we felt the space was well-thought out. Chalice cottage is a lovely property. Its a shame there isnt space to sit outside but its location makes up for that being two minutes walk from Bakewell centre and the riverside. We found the property spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for a very pleasant vacation.

We had a fantastic week at Chalice Cottage. It's in a brilliant location, in the centre of Bakewell but tucked down a quiet lane, and is very well equipped. We really enjoyed using the log burner - the lounge felt so warm and cosy during the dark winter evenings that we didn't want to go out!

The welcome booklet was very informative and recommendations made within were appreciated, for instance the local eateries. The bottle of wine on arrival was a lovely touch.
