This cottage is somewhere special to get away from it all being set in a secluded location. It has a pretty meadow frontage and splendid views up the valley to Hartington.

Hartington village has pubs and cafes where lovely cream teas can be purchased and enjoyed. The High Peak and Tissington Trails are within easy reach with cycle hire. Carsington Water for sailing and watersports is within easy reach. Chatsworth, the medieval Haddon Hall or in contrast Alton Towers fun park and spa can all be visited easily. Buxton renowned for its Opera House and Pavilion Gardens is a short drive away. You are also at the gateway to the Dales and the Peak District National Park, the perfect place to enjoy long walks, leisurely bike rides or horse riding in the quiet Derbyshire countryside.

The cottage welcomes you into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner which boasts everything you need for a relaxing stay. There are two comfy sofas situated next to the TV and a big glass door with beautiful views. The kitchen area provides electric oven and hob, fridge and microwave, the dining area with table and chairs is a good spot for a lazy breakfast planning the days activities ahead. Also located on the ground floor is a bright and airy twin bedroom and a separate shower room with WC. There is a galleried double bedroom with a beautiful king-size bed and complementing furniture.

Outside there is a patio area with garden furniture and BBQ with pretty valley views. If you are feeling fit why not bring your bikes as there is a handy bike store. Additionally, there is off-road parking for two cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A small but comfortable cottage cleverly converted from a cow byre and set apart from the farm where the owners have other cottages. It looks out over a field to the Dove Valley, to which there is easy access nearby. The cottage is near the end of a long single track road so there is little passing traffic, but drive carefully because there are alwRead moreays walkers and little in the way of a verge for them to get onto. First and foremost Cruck cottage is in a wonderful location with views from the lounge and all around the large enclosed patio. You are detached from the farm, about 200 metres away so you feel independent and have privacy. The views are stunning of the valley below. The cottage had all you needed. It was in a gorgeous setting. There was a big group of children in the house below that were a little noisy. Not ideal for two couples due to the mezzanine bedroom.

An absolutely stunning cosy cottage in an absolutely stunning location! A real little gem of a hideaway with some great walks on your doorstep. The owners were lovely and had two beautiful friendly border collies who loved to say hello. Living area is small but was fine for us. The cottage is set in beautiful countryside with a spectacular view from the front of the property. If you want to get away from it all this the place to book. The only noise that will disturb your holiday will be the sound of the birds, sheep and the occasional tractor passing along the lane behind the property. Thoroughly recommended. We enjoyed: lovely walks alongside the river Dove in both directions, reached after 10 mins walk from the cottage; a couple of 2-3 hour circular walks via river and dales; walking the 40 mins into Hartington each afternoon alongside quiet tracks with beautiful views of open countryside; tea and Bakewell tarts on the terrace,Read more looking out over fields and dales from the cottage; once home enjoying the different local cheeses bought in Hartington. Well equiped and comfortable, this cottage provides a great base for exploring the Peak District. We had good weather, so made use of the outside area to sit read and admire the views and sunsets. You can walk to the village (pubs, shop and post office) and to other places without having to drive, but are close enough to main routes for visiting fuRead morerther afield. The dog loved it, although I'm not sure what he thought about the occasional visit from the farm's (friendly) sheepdog! Hide

An excellent conversion of a very old barn, retaining the character but with modern comforts. It is separate to but near to the main farmhouse. The bedrooms are a good size but the living area is very compact and would be best for singles, couples and small families. The views are spectacular and easy access for walkers to a good range of paths.

A lovely cosy character cottage on a working farm in a beautiful location. Perfect for a walking holiday . Very friendly owners whom always had time to chat when tending to lambing ewes in the nearby field.

Want peace, tranquillity, privacy, great views, great walks on doorstep, no temptation to use mobile or Wifi, then this is the place. The cottage is very quaint, charming, and cosy, and you really feel you are totally away from all the stresses of everyday life.
