Perfect for families who want the peace and quiet of the countryside but with many amenities within a short walk. Spend your days lazing in the garden or relaxing by the fire with good company.

This former private boarding school house has been renovated to the highest standard and is located only 0.2 miles walk to the centre of Bakewell, known as the jewel in the Peak District’s crown, dotted with quaint shops, galleries, tearooms, and centuries-old pubs and restaurants. The local area is a mecca for walkers and cyclists: Bakewell lies at the start of the renowned Monsal Trail, an old railway line now used for car-free recreation, offering scenic views through the national park. Enjoy outdoor pursuits like fishing, hiking and climbing, or visit famed stately homes like Chatsworth or Haddon Hall. Relax with an afternoon tea at one of the many charming tearooms, tour the picturesque countryside and visit the higgledy-piggledy villages. Don’t forget to stop at the famous Chatsworth Farm Shop for supplies.

Take the external steps up to the front door and wander through the hallway into the kitchen/diner. Spacious dining areas in both the kitchen and the outdoors mean you can make an occasion of every meal. The kitchen/diner contains everything you need during your stay, including the electric range cooker with induction hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. The kitchen’s large dining table is ideal for leisurely breakfasts, while a separate dining room invites you to while away the evenings over supper. The living room is the social hub of the house, with ample comfy seating for everyone. In the summer, throw open the bi-fold doors and let the outside in. Snuggle up on winter evenings beside the dual-aspect wood-burner (logs provided) and Smart TV. The downstairs utility room offers a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a downstairs shower room with shower and WC, and a further bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC. Sleeping eight people, each bedroom room has been carefully put together, with tasteful decor and endless thoughtful details to make your stay special. The ground floor offers two king-size bedrooms, each with an en-suite shower room with WC. Upstairs, you will find a twin bedroom with two 4ft single beds, a family bathroom with a bath, handheld shower and WC. A few steps down is a super-king-size bedroom with breathtaking views over Bakewell and the surrounding countryside. In the bathroom, which features his and hers sinks and a WC, enjoy a glass of something chilled and recline in a tub of bubbles in the freestanding copper bath – it overlooks the gardens through a stunning glass wall (switchable privacy glass).

Outside, the patio with dining furniture is surrounded by mature trees and will make al fresco dining a real treat. The grounds sprawl around the property offering lots of space for garden games. There is ample off-road parking for six cars.

We had an amazing stay at Garden House. It is in a very quiet location, but is in walking distance from the town centre. The house is all we had hoped and much more. It seemed so new and was extremely clean. Very bright. All 4 bedrooms were of a good size and en suite. Plus there were 2 additional bathrooms. The house was very well equipped and greRead moreat touches, such as coffee for the cafeteria.. Also a lovely welcome tray. We will certainly be back and would thoroughly recommend it. Thank you.
