Situated on the banks of the River Sett this is a truly unique cottage. The river plays home to an array of nature which can be seen from the comfort of your cottage. For keen walkers, the trails of Kinder Scout and the Pennine Way await. Hayfield is located at the north-eastern edge of the Peak District National Park, making it off-the-beaten track compared to some regions. The north of the Peak District is emptier, starkly beautiful, and attractive to those that shun the crowds. There are some great day trips to be had in the area, so make sure Blue John Cavern, Chatsworth House, Buxton Spring, Lyme Park and the Pennine Way are on your radar.

Wander along the garden path with the river to your side, step into the wonderful open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area. A large corner sofa, decorated with bright cushions is positioned in front of the TV and feature electric flame effect fire. The dining area offers a table large enough for the whole family to come together over a celebration dinner. The kitchen is a truly special space with floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking the River Sett, so grab a stool and sit at the breakfast bar and enjoy the views, rain or shine. The kitchen hosts everything you need for a home away from home stay with electric oven and induction hob. The utility area offers microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer . Heading upstairs, the property offers three bedrooms, 2 doubles, both with views over the river, and a twin bedroom (with 2’6x 5’6 beds), perfect for little ones. Completing the accommodation is the spacious bathroom with freestanding bath, separate shower and WC.

Outside, the property boasts gorgeous views of the riverside and the 14th Century Hayfiled church, with private front and rear gardens with seating to relax and enjoy the river and wildlife. You also have use in the rear garden of the beautiful wooden summerhouse with bifolding doors, inside there is a toilet and hydropool. There is off-road parking for two cars and bicycle storage available.

Amazing location with lovely walks right from the door. Grotto House is a very special property with the river running right by the door. The enclosed garden gave us total privacy, allowing the dog to potter freely outside. Modern touches with total comfort, we felt very welcome. A truly special property in the best spot in the village. Unique setting. Helpful hosts. Well appointed with comfy beds, good shower, hot tub, dishwasher, washer and dryer, parking to rear of the property, outdoor furniture. Sound of the river if windows are open can be loud, as are the quarterly church clock chimes - we loved this background noiseRead more but may disturb light sleepers/nervous dogs.
