Set off and discover the varied landscapes of the glorious Derbyshire countryside from here, exploring the ancient woodland and rugged moors of the famous Heart of England.

Compact and cosy, this barn conversion offers the perfect amount of space for two and a dog to call their own. The open-plan living space on the ground floor is kept cosy thanks to the wood burner. Throw a log on the fire and let the warm ambience fill the room as you prepare your meals, hopefully with some local produce picked up on your travels. Set atop a hill, this property boasts remarkable views from both its patio space outside and the galley bedroom on the first floor. We’ve no doubt you’ll never tire of waking up to that view each and every morning throughout your stay.

A short wander through a pretty meadow leads you to the market town of Wirksworth (1 mile), your go-to spot for picking up essentials, enjoying a pint of local cider or tucking into a meal at a restaurant. Adventurers will delight staying this close to the Carsington Water reservoir (3 miles), a place for fishing, water sports or perhaps just a circular walk. Nearby, you’ll find the Harborough Rocks (4 miles), well worth a visit before venturing into the Peak District itself (5.5 miles) to hike and bike to your heart’s content.

We loved Long Meadow Barn. It was clean, cosy, comfortable, peaceful and secure. The location was amazing with lovely views over the countryside. There were numerous walks to enjoy including a pleasant walk along a pathway through the fields to Wirksworth. Wirksworth is a very nice town with independant shops plus a well stocked Co-Op store, pubs aRead morend restaurants. There are good bus links to the surrounding places of interest. A charming cottage in a superb setting. Small but having everything a couple would need. Clean with no clutter. We felt very safe in these uncertain times.

Cottage is small but ample for 2. It's very well equipped and cosy and the sun is lovely in the afternoon on the patio. We had no problems at all here and thoroughly enjoyed our week away.

Very enjoyable holiday , Cottage is small but for us two and a Labrador good enough, bedroom good size though , bed comfortable. Internet excellent, lashings of hot water too, could do with slightly larger tv screen . Ate out several times in local pubs ok, Malt Shovel Inn on the oakerthorpe road we liked best a 15 minute walk mostly UP but after fRead moreood and a beer.. all DOWN!! We would/will go back. Tip, use instructions to get there dont rely on satnav! Heritage train ok but book up early Hide

4 nights spent at this lovely small barn conversion for my 50th birthday getaway. Greeted by Hugo the owner who lives next door. Everything was spotlessly clean. Bed comfortable Beautiful location and easy walk down into Wirksworth. . Easy reach to Matlock, Ashbourne, Bakewell, Buxom. Took our border collie who after her long walks was happy to curRead morel up by the door on our return to the property. Stayed in Long Meadow Barn from 27th-29th April ,great location ,cosy and warm with a log burner. Ideal stay for two people,clean and comfortable .Nice touch when we arrived there was a bottle of red wine and a box of biscuits and milk. The Owner lives next door and said if we needed anything just call round.

Enjoyed a pleasant stay at the cottage, everything was spotlessly clean, Hugo the owner was at hand if any issues occurred. I certainly would recommend a short break at the cottage.cannot think of any improvements to be made.

From arrival, Long Meadow Barn ticked so many boxes. Quiet location within easy reach of the village and lots of good walks on the doorstep. Spotlessly clean and with everything we could need including logs for the wood burner. Considering the timing of the holiday - during the pandemic -the cottage was very clean and we felt very secure in there. There was everything that was needed for a short break and we felt very comfortable and relaxed in there. Location is great - quiet but an easy walk into Wirksworth for shops and amenities.

The cottage was perfect for the two of us (and dog) to catch up with our family & friends in the Midlands. The location was beautiful looking down from the village into Wirksworth. Initially appeared quite small, but actually more than enough space for two people for a week. Very well designed barn conversion with good quality finish and spotlessly clean. The outside terrace is a great bonus when the weather is good, and the owner is happy for you to sit in the adjacent orchard too. He also keeps bees, and will sell you some Read moreexcellent honey. The cottage was lovely and cosy, the perfect size for two and a dog. The cooking facilities were very good (oven, touch hob, lots of good pots and pans etc.) We enjoyed the variety of circuit walks on the door step. To get into Wirksworth its a very pretty walk through the fields, which was ideal for food shopping. The location is absolutely stunning, the views are amazing. We took our dog and there were some beautiful walks. We have a 4x4 which was great for some of the steep and narrow roads around the village. The cottage its self was very clean, cosy and had everything we needed. The host was great and the little extras made the holiday special
