A picturesque stone cottage situated in the heart of the village of Tideswell. Nearby walking and local amenities make it a great choice for those seeking village life and easy access to the surrounding countryside.
Escape to the countryside in this beautiful rural retreat in Tideswell. The village boasts a vast array of cute shops and eateries and is surrounded by spectacular limestone uplands. On the outskirts of the village is the tranquil Tideswell Dale (0.5 miles) which makes a lovely spot for a picnic, or you can pull on your walking boots and enjoy a 6-mile circular route to Miller’s Dale, encompassing part of the popular Monsal Trail. The bustling towns of Buxton and Bakewell are both within 8 miles of the property.
The pretty cottage is warm and inviting, thanks to russet-toned interiors and gorgeous exposed woodwork. The open-plan lounge/diner is full of character, with a fabulous stained-glass window and a roaring wood burner. It’s the ideal spot in which to kick back and relax after a long walk. There’s also a large dining table so you can dine together and sample some of the local produce you may have picked up on your travels. The kitchen is an equally delightful area, with a pretty stable door, striking stone wall and cosy underfloor heating. Outside, sip an aperitif on the sunny terrace and admire the countryside views or fire up the BBQ and dine alfresco on the patio at the front of the property, before retiring to one of the two bedrooms for a good night’s sleep.
Tideswell Dale is a truly magical place. Set in a sheltered limestone gorge, the nature reserve is a great place to look for rare wildflowers and butterflies. Follow the sculpture trail before enjoying a bite to eat in the picturesque picnic spot. The circular walk to Miller’s Dale gives you a real taste of the landscape, passing through spectacular limestone dales and majestic open countryside. At the halfway point, stop for lunch in the traditional village pub on the banks of the River Wye before joining the traffic-free Monsal Trail.
