A wonderfully located cottage with a nice period feel. Inevitably there are compromises, such as a narrow spiral staircase and rough flagstone floors. Also parking is tight - one needs to park very close to the front of the cottage to avoid blocking the narrow road to other traffic. The Old Bowling Green pub opposite is a true village pub with a veRead morery friendly landlord, but only opens Thursday - Sunday, with basket meals Friday and Saturday and pasties the other days. Overall a lovely, homely cottage. Could do with less kitchen utensils eg 2 x sandwich toasters and a blender so that there can be a cupboard available to store food in for use in the cottage. Sofas comfortable and room sizes are big. To have a dryer as well as a washing machine is a huge bonus. Pub accross the road is only open Thursday to Sunday aRead morend food served in 2 of those nights. It is not a rowdy pub at all. Village shop run by volunteers is a must drop in as use it or lose it as they say. Hide

One of us suffered a shoulder complaint which made the stairs quite difficult to climb as they are narrow and spiral and you need to hold onto the railings. Carrying cases up and down tricky. Equipment was good and cleanliness very good. Winster is well situated for walking in the Peak district, with several walk from the town, but only one shop.

Lovely cottage with fantastic character. We really enjoyed our stay here, excellent location within the village centre. Nice pub and shop very close by. Equipment level was very high, there wasn't anything we could think of to add. Even flasks were there for if we needed a hot drink on a walk. Everything was clean and well maintained throughout. Comfy, cosy and well equipped cottage in the beautiful village of Winster. The point of contact for the cottage was very nice and accommodating. All in all, I can thoroughly recommend this cottage.

The cottage is in a great location in the middle of the village just opposite the pub and has parking for 1 car. The cottage was beautifully presented with a decent supply of pans and crockery. The beds were very comfortable

Lovely, cosy, comfortable cottage. Utility area was very useful to store our food etc so it didnt clutter the kitchen. Also hooks for coats in there. Lovely upstairs reading room/nook which got the afternoon sun. Very long private garden. Beds very comfortable. Thought there might have been disturbance from the pub opposite but there wasnt (only opRead moreen Thursdays-Sundays anyway). Situated in a very pretty village with village shop at the end of the road. Will definitely return. Hide

We loved our week at Marmalade Cottage. The well equipped cottage is full of character and the garden is beautiful. Winster is also lovely and having the pub and shop so close was great. Would recommend tea and cake in the church at the weekends. We enjoyed exploring the local area and would recommend.
