A Grade II listed property that dates back over 300 years, Marmalade Cottage is nestled in the heart of the pretty Peak District Village of Winster, and contains original features throughout.

Enjoying a delightful village position, Marmalade Cottage has wonderful local amenities close by. After a day spent traversing the undulating hills and steep peaks of the surrounding landscape, guests can head to the local pub, The Bowling Green Inn for a spot of lunch and to rest those aching legs. The nearby town of Matlock offers even more, including a railway station which makes Marmalade Cottage easily accessible by both road and rail.

Guests enter the cottage into a good size reception dining area, stepping across the part stone flagged, part wooden floors it is immeditaley clear that this property is brimming with character. A door to the rear of the hallway leads through to the kitchen which is equipped with all the necessities. Another door off the hall takes guests through to the lounge which has exposed beams, stone fagged floors and a woodburner set into a gritstone fireplace, which gives the room a wonderful ambience. A utility-storage room is located just off the lounge and provides space for those muddy boots and wet coats. Arched leaded windows throughout the property are a nod to the history that is embedded within the stone walls.

The original staircase leads up to the first floor and the two bedrooms. The first bedroom contains two single beds and has an original stone fireplace which makes a central feature of the room. The second spacious bedroom has a king size bed and beautiful views towards the front of the property. There is a main bathroom with a bath, shower-over, toilet and hand basin. At the end of the upstairs corridor there is a third study room complete with a desk and bookcases. Double doors open out onto the pretty lawn garden.

Lovely cottage in a great area. Village small and friendly with a little shop for essentials. Pub opposite offered take away meals including Sunday dinner at the time. The cottage itself was full of features, the best being the real fire and there was wood and kindling already there for first use. Property was very cosy and warm with a good hot powRead moreerful shower and really comfortable beds. Some might find the staircase an issue as it is steep and tight. Needs extra care when using. Our third stay. Beautiful, old stone, comfortable, spacious but cosy. Kitchen, whilst small, well-planned and equiped, is a pleasure to cook in. Good quality cutlery and crockery. Beautiful garden. Stairs are difficult. The only rooms which look onto the garden are the very small upstairs sitting room (letting onto the small terrace) and the bathroRead moreom. Other rooms look to the pub and road (but very, very quiet). Good community shop. 2 pubs, with food. Interesting village. Hide

Warm and comfortable and a good location. The well stocked village shop and post office are staffed by friendly volunteers and are only about 30 yards away. The pub opposite is welcoming with good food but has limited opening. Only down side to the cottage is a very steep and winding staircase that needs considerable care and the old stone floors aRead morere rather uneven. Hide

Marmalade Cottage is a fantastic cottage which is very well equipped. We didnt want for anything. It was great for our two young boys too. WiFi was a massive plus, especially as it meant we were able to research areas to visit easily. Fab place.

This cottage is beautifully cosy, with stone walls and beams, giving a feeling of permanence. The kitchen is cleverly planned to include a dishwasher, and the "utility" room is a great resource for both laundry and for drying wet outdoor clothing. The village itself is fascinating, beautiful, and evidently lived in, not just visited. The village shRead moreop is excellent, with PO and the staff are friendly and helpful. Hide

Our first time at Marmalade Cottage and we quickly felt at home. The cottage has been lovingly restored and updated, retaining its old charm and features, yet full of modern amenities. The staircase is very steep. Children U5 could have difficulty. Parking was fine in front of the house and never had any issues with larger vehicles passing. After aRead more week we didn't want to leave! Beds and sofas were very comfortable and cosy. Being ten minutes from Bakewell and Matlock it's a great location! Hide
