  • Beautiful walks and cycling on your doorstep
  • One mile from the local amenities at Whaley Bridge
Property code: PK534

Immerse yourself in the rural lifestyle with a stay in this homely, converted barn on the north-western edge of the Peak District National Park. As part of a working farm, there are sheep, cattle and horses aplenty; there’s even stabling available for visiting horses. Its hillside location allows all eight of you to soak up the picturesque views and offers a wealth of walks from your doorstep. With the delightful town of Whaley Bridge, known as the ‘Gateway to the Goyt Valley’, only 1.6 miles away, there are a range of independent shops/eateries nearby.

Honouring its heritage, this sympathetically restored barn has plenty of original features and traditional furniture that adds character and charm throughout. It is the ideal property to return to at the end of an action-packed day. As you enter the hall, you can tickle the ivories before heading through to the spacious farmhouse kitchen/diner to cook up some treats. The ground floor is also home to two bedrooms and a family bathroom. You’ll find the two further bedrooms on the first floor alongside the comfortable lounge with its countryside views, and a shower room. In the evening, enjoy a drink on the shared patio whilst making plans for the following day.

With an abundance of walking, cycling, canoeing, climbing and caving opportunities, the Peak District is made for adventures. Explore the steep dales and limestone plateaus at Castleton (9.5 miles) in the White Peak or for the more daring amongst you, head underground into the area’s showcaves. Remember that all adventurers need ‘rest days’, so wander the cobbled streets of the historic ‘Capital of the Peak’, Chapel-en-le-Frith (3 miles), or venture to Georgian thermal spa town Buxton (7.5 miles) for a glass of spring water.

Ideal situation to enjoy Christmas with family on both sides of the Pennines. Lovely walks from the property with excellent views. We felt the photographs online didn't do the property full justice, we loved it and would use it again.

A large property ideally suited to our group comprising a family with three young children and grandparents. Spacious parking area. Quiet location yet close to amenities and within easy reach of Buxton, Castleton, etc. The cottage is well equipped and we would book again.

With a double and twin room plus bath or shower room on each floor this was ideal for our extended family. The owners were friendly and helpful and its lovely to see sheep, horses and chickens just over the road. There's a walk across fields and tracks down to Whaley Bridge. We had a lovely time.

A comfortable cottage in a good location. The cottage is really well equipped. Our dog loved gazing out of the large picture window at the local farm animals and wild life. We have been before and will return again.
