Steal away and experience a romantic retreat in Ashford in the Water, a quintessentially English village in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Located just moments from the village shop and welcoming local pub, this property offers you the chance to fully immerse yourself in village life. Step outside and enjoy walks along the River Wye and into the pretty meadows of Monsal Dale, enjoying the unforgettable scenery that this English beauty spot is well known for. You’re even welcome to bring one dog along to stay with you, the perfect addition to any walking retreat.

This attractive stone cottage features plenty of traditional design elements yet has been updated with an attractive and up-to-date interior to provide the perfect accommodation. Look forward to sociable evenings together spent on the open-plan ground floor, preparing meals in the kitchen and sitting down in the lounge/diner. You’ll want to find time to plan routes and activities for days yet to come, and we can’t think of a better place to do this than in front of a warming wood burner. Throw a log on the fire and consult the maps before heading on up to bed for an undisturbed night’s sleep.

Step out on foot to experience some of Derbyshire’s most beautiful scenery. The Monsal Trail is an excellent place to start – an 8.5-mile route for walking, cycling or even horseback riding and a chance to see the area to its fullest extent. On the way, you’ll spot the Headstone Viaduct (1.5 miles), a delectable spot you’ll certainly want to stop and admire. Of course, a day out to the nearby town of Bakewell is a must (2 miles). Stock up on the town’s famous tarts and other freshly baked goodies before pressing on with your excursion.

Cottage is in a great location and reasonably priced for the time of year. It is very comfortable with a good shower. We felt the kitchen was a little under equipped and could have done with more guidance in terms of recycling etc Storage was excellent and the cottage was warm enough. Overall, it was a great place to stay in an amazing location.

Cottage is located in a idyllic setting with great access to local attractions such as Bakewell, Monsal Trail and other local attractions. Lovely welcoming pub and coffee shop within a one minute walk from the cottage. The cottage has all you could want from a short break, there were two of us and our dog and we had ample space for what we wanted.
