Situated next to the owner’s home, offering complete privacy is this charming pet-friendly cottage which boasts lots of original character alongside comfortable furnishings for a home from home escape.

This beautiful cottage is located just outside the chocolate-box village of Ashford-in-the-Water and sleeps four guests. You’ll have a fabulous choice of walks directly from your front door, through the spectacular Derbyshire countryside. The village has great links with the traffic-free Monsal Trail, and is also just 3 miles from Bakewell, the Peak District’s epicentre for outdoor activities. For a slice of history, head to 900-year-old Haddon Hall (5.5 miles).

The characterful cottage has the perfect mix of rustic charm and contemporary style, creating a cosy, home-away-from-home vibe. After a long walk, curl up on the sofa in the lounge in front of the wood burner with a cuppa and a good book. The light and bright dining area has a large table and elegant chairs, so you can all congregate to enjoy delicious meals together and plan your next adventure. The property has a large, enclosed garden, with a BBQ and beautiful, mature borders. Here, you can dine alfresco at the picnic bench and soak up the tranquil surroundings or relax with a glass of wine in the sunshine before retiring upstairs to one of the comfortable bedrooms.

Take the time to explore Ashford-in-the-Water, where you’ll find quaint limestone cottages and immaculate floral displays. The village has one of the most photographed bridges in the country – Sheepwash Bridge – so be sure to pay it a visit for a game of Pooh sticks or a peaceful picnic on the nearby grassy riverbank. There are endless walking trails branching out from the village, including to the popular beauty spot of Monsal Head (2 miles), where you can marvel at the impressive views down the valley, towards the iconic viaduct. Spend a fascinating afternoon at Haddon Hall, exploring the untouched interiors dating back to the 14th century and the spectacular Elizabethan gardens.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

This delightful cottage has a secure private garden which we really appreciated as our little dog could mooch about in safety. The cottage is sparkling clean and very well equipped. The kitchen and bathrooms are fitted out to a high standard. Kristin was very friendly but not at all intrusive. The cottage was east to find and though it was on a quiRead moreet lane it was so central , near to amenities and beautiful walks. I would highly recommend it. We will be returning soon! Hide

Our stay at Red Farm Cottage was lovely! We bought along our two labradors, who has just as much fun as us humans. The location is picturesque, quiet and friendly. It was the perfect place to retreat after long walks in the peaks. We especially loved the Monsal Trail and walking across fields right on the doorstep. The cottage itself is well-equippRead moreed, the warmth was very much appreciated after days out in the rain. The garden was a good size and secure for dogs too. Hide

We had a lovely stay here. It is so well located for walks and cycles. We did not bring our bikes, but it is so close to the Monsal trail that we will have to make sure we bring it next time. There are walks going all directions that you can do right from the house without having to use a car. Bakewell is a short drive for food etc. There is a loveRead morely little pub (The Packhorse Inn) just 10 mins walk away, as well as those at Monsal head. The house itself was clean and well equipped. Hide
