This unique cottage is hidden in the sleepy village of Mellor situated within the grounds of the owners' home but tucked away with absolute privacy, it’s the perfect, want-for-nothing, stylish retreat.

Situated close to some of Cheshire and Derbyshire’s finest countryside with a range of walks through fields, woods and wild moorland direct from the door. Mellor boasts three pubs and a golf club where you can enjoy a one-day round of golf and take advantage of their restaurant. Tarden Farm is a working stables catering for experienced riders with direct access to a network of public footpaths and bridleways. The Midshires Way, Middlewood Way and Sett Valley Trail are all within 3 miles, Lyme Park, 5 miles, and popular tourist attractions such as RHS Bridgewater, Buxton, Edale, Chatsworth House and Castleton can be reached within 26 miles. Manchester is 12 miles away with a direct train from Marple.

Step into the hallway and make yourself at home in the beautiful open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. This social space is a dream to relax in. The kitchen area offers an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine whilst benefitting from cosy underfloor heating.  Enjoy a celebration meal at the nearby dining table then relax on the comfy seating in the lounge. Light the wood burner, chill in front of the smart TV, and make the most of the amazing countryside views through the bi-fold doors.. Fantastic property in good location with great views. Property really well decorated and furnished with everything you will need. Owners were fantastic, great hosts and very friendly. Best of both worlds; property in picturesque rural position but close to Manchester which is only 20 mins away by local train. Highly recommend.

This is a very comfortable and well equipped cottage. The owners live next door and are extremely pleasant and accommodating. The views are magnificent -and on a clear day you can just see the centre of Manchester on the horizon - on a perfect day you cannot!!

We simply can't fault our weekend at The Shires. Location was fantastic and the Cottage was beautiful. We were made to feel at home by Greg and Maurice who were always on hand to answer any question. Will definitely be going back!

The property was immaculate. One of the best I have rented. High quality spec and equipment - very comfortable. Location was good and easy to find (no dark single track lanes!) with good gastropubs nearby. Thank you!

What a beautiful cottage. A very quite location, with some excellent local pubs, within walking distance. Any minor issues were dealt with immediately. The owners communication at all times was excellent. Many thanks for a wonderful stay, if only it could have been for longer!!

The barn is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The owners are friendly, helpful and easily contactable.
