Idyllic country cottage set in the heart of the Peak district with stunning views all within a hidden location.

A quiet rural escape high in the hills between the charming villages of Youlgreave and Elton with wide views over the green valley below. From the cottage you can enjoy fantastic walks with footpaths on your doorstep. Secluded and peaceful, the surrounding area waits to be discovered on foot, by bike or by car. Bakewell is just 15 minutes away by car, with many shopping and dining facilities including a chance to sample the famous Bakewell Pudding. Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House and Gardens are a must see for anyone who visits - don’t forget to stop at the farm shop and stock up on the local food and drink. The nearby village of Youlgreave offers a range of good local shops and pubs.

You enter this wonderful country cottage by a traditional barn door and arrive into the main hall. The main bathroom is located on the ground floor at the end of the hall with a shower over bath. Down a few steps from the hallway you enter a cosy wood-floored living room with many original features including a wood burner. This is perfect place to unwind with two leather sofas and two armchairs in front of the fire, and a nearby TV/DVD and a Bluetooth speaker. Moving along you enter a country-style kitchen and dining room with a generous electric cooker, a microwave, fridge and dishwasher. Patio doors lead straight out on the terrace. Inside you have all you need to create a family feast and the perfect spot to enjoy it on the dining room table. From the kitchen a flight of stairs leads to a king-size bedroom with additional pull-out single bed and en-suite shower room with toilet. Back in the hallway there are two more charming private staircases, one leading up to a double bedroom with a built-in desk and the other to a king-size room with additional pull-out single bed.

Outside you will find a patio with seating to enjoy those beautiful views, and a grassed area all around. Go exploring in pine woods nearby and say hello over the wall to our friendly family of resident llamas. There is parking for four cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Spout Cottage is perfect for the quiet life in stunning surroundings; we really wished we had the time to book for longer. We went with the intention of leaving the car locked up and did just that enjoying fantastic walks to the two local villages. Owners are extremely helpful and friendly, highly recommend.

Spout Cottage is a lovely property in an amazing setting. If you are looking for a rural getaway, this is it. My only thought would be if you are visiting with a dog, be aware the garden is a shared space with access out onto the lane so make sure your dog likes strangers and like to escape. Otherwise I would highly recommend this property, it's a Read morereal treat. Hide
