Escape to the pretty village of Alton to this character cottage with lots of charm. With two pubs within easy walking distance there is no need to argue over who does the washing up.

Spend your days exploring the public footpaths that meander around the surrounding countryside enjoying the fresh country air or bring your bike along and take to the quiet country lanes on two wheels. Nearby Alton Towers offers a fun filled day out, whether it’s the thrill seeking rides, fun filled water park or relaxing spa, it caters for all tastes with many events on throughout the year. Nearby popular market town of Ashbourne presents an array of independent shops, galleries and eateries to explore and the stunning countryside of the Peak District National Park awaits.

Stepping into the hallway which provides space to take off your boots, you have the charming dining room on your left with a table spacious enough to sit six, and nearby window seat providing a nod to the cottages history. The lounge is inviting and cosy with comfortable seating arranged around the wood burner and beautiful stone fireplace. Enjoy the character beams and well stocked book case to enhance your stay. The country style kitchen offers everything you need to rustle up a good meal such as, electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The games room sits just outside the back door towards the garden and offers comfy seating, TV with Play Station 2 and games, table top football and retro cards table.  There is also a handy utility area with washing machine and an array of children’s books and board games with French doors leading to the garden. There is also a ground floor separate WC with plenty of space to hang your coats. Upstairs on the first floor the master bedroom offers lots of space with a super-king-size bed and complimenting pine furniture, and a smaller double bedroom along the hallway. The Jack and Jill bathroom presents an inviting bath, separate shower and WC, and is accessed from both hallways. To access the twin bedroom, go through the Jack and Jill bathroom to another hallway and then into the twin bedroom. This room also benefits from an en-suite shower room and WC.

Outside, the enclosed garden has a pretty patio area surrounded with pleasant shrubs offering a table for six with a parasol. There is roadside parking subject to availability.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Great cottage, great location, great service.

Very nice property in a scenic location, great for people wanting peace and long walks. Parking was hit and miss outside the cottage as the cottage is opposite a pub and visitors sometimes parked there. The two pubs were pleasant but very much for the locals. The cottage itself is very comfortable and clean and the master bed is huge.

Quite a quirky property with character and very spacious bedrooms which the children enjoyed. It is an excellent base for Alton Towers and the Peak District and has good amenities with two shops very close by and a super pub directly opposite (not noisy) and one just up the street.
