Take time to unwind in this beautifully restored holiday cottage which combines elements of traditional comfort with contemporary design. Old oak beams are present and its furnished with style in mind for a memorable break.

Effortlessly blending traditional design with contemporary comfort, this restored stone cottage on a complex of farm properties in the picturesque village of Foolow is the perfect accommodation option for small families or groups of friends who want to get away from it all. Spend your days hiking the gorge at Chee Dale, and your evenings catching up with loved ones around the cottage’s flickering wood burner.

With its chic design touches and lovely old oak beams, this cottage is the perfect country retreat for up to six people and three dogs. After a wonderful day exploring the national park, come home and make your way to the open-plan living room/kitchen/diner. Pour yourself a glass of wine and cook up a feast in the kitchen area. If you have the kids or the dogs with you, they can safely play in the garden while you prep dinner, as it’s fully enclosed. Alternatively, light up the charcoal BBQ on the patio and dine alfresco. After dinner, sink into the sofa in the living area and catch up on your favourite TV shows as the wood burner gently crackles. When the day is done, there are three lovely bedrooms to choose from.

Grab your hiking boots and head to the pretty gorge at Chee Dale (8 miles). With its majestic crags and cliffs, it’s a gorgeous spot for a stroll. You’ll also have fun crossing the dale’s famous stepping stones. Alternatively, go on an underground adventure at Poole’s Cavern (12.5 miles) to explore vast limestone caverns adorned with stalactites and stalagmites. Back above ground, take a 0.5-mile walk up to the summit of Grin Hill to enjoy the spectacular views across the High Peak. On a clear day, you can see as far as Mam Tor in the distance.

A really cosy and warm cottage. Very well equipped, beautifully renovated and furnished and, most of all, very comfy beds. A fantastic location too with easy access to lots of local beauty spots in the peak district. Local pub, a 10 minute walk, the bulls head, was superb too, really friendly staff and great menu - try the local beef.

The cottage comfortably slept and accommodated 6 adults, sitting areas were spacious and comfortably furnished. The kitchen was really well equipped, we planned to eat in a couple of times and had all the cooking utensils we needed to cook from scratch. Very peaceful, great views and places to walk. Highly recommend

Plenty of space and very comfortable. Great location with quick access to most of the Peak Districts attractions. Good local walks. From the outside the Old Diary is not that attractive with an apparent lack of windows, but inside theres plenty of light and the layout is good. It would be nice to read something about the history of the building - IRead more doubt it was always the dairy. Hide
