This fabulous cottage sleeps four guests and is just 5 miles from the thermal spa town of Buxton. As well as a plethora of picturesque towns and villages, the area also boasts some truly spectacular walking routes. From the 268-mile Pennine Way, which starts in nearby Edale (15 miles), to a gentle afternoon stroll around the woodlands at Corbar Cross (6 miles), there’s something to suit everyone. Thrill-seekers will enjoy taking on the zip wires and giant swings at Go Ape (6 miles), which has one of the highest courses in the country.

Inside, the spacious property has a reverse layout, to really make the most of the countryside views from the living areas, with two pretty bedrooms downstairs. The cottage is full of rustic charm, with exposed beams and stonework bringing character to each area. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is the social hub of the property, with ample seating for you to unwind after a day of exploring and a large dining table to enjoy mealtimes together. Outside, there’s a charming patio surrounded by a traditional dry-stone wall, where you can sip a morning coffee or dine alfresco on a summer’s evening.

The Great Ridge Walk is a fantastic way to get a feel for the landscape. Starting in Castleton (13 miles), the route encompasses the iconic Mam Tor and provides glorious views over Hope Valley. You’ll also pass the show caves of Treak Cliff and Blue John Cavern, which you really must explore if you have the time. Step back 900 years with a visit to Haddon Hall (10 miles), where you’ll find untouched interiors dating back to the 14th century and a magical Elizabethan walled garden. Head into Buxton to admire the stunning Georgian and Victorian architecture, rest your aching limbs with a spa day or peruse the many independent boutiques and galleries.

Great situation for local towns, walks and attractions, excellent holiday let and friendly owners, we followed the post code not the instructions (we came a different way) but the entrance is opposite the lay-by on the A6 not along the coalpit lane which comes under the same postcode

We had a wonderful family holiday in the Hayloft. The location of the farm is great, it's close to so many of the area's key attractions. Immediately on the doorstep were some fabulous walks too. The cottage was very comfortable, spacious and clean. We would definitely consider staying there again and highly recommend it.

Lovely cottage in a good location (off the A6 but very quiet). Car is essential as no shops nearby. Lots to see and do within reasonable driving distance - we only scratched the surface and would love to return. We were there in late April/early May and the young lambs were very cute. Owners very quickly try to resolve any issues that arise.
