The cottage is located within a complex in the grounds of the owner’s property and is full of character, with gorgeous stone flooring and exposed beams. The open-plan living area is decorated in neutral tones to create a relaxed atmosphere. After an action-packed day, fire up the wood burner and snuggle up on the plump sofa under the impressive vaulted ceiling. Outside, there’s a charming seating area that catches the evening sun, so you can unwind with a glass of wine at the end of the day, listening to the birds singing. You’re also welcome to wander over to the owner’s paddocks to say hello to the horses and alpacas. At the end of the day, a soothing double bedroom awaits.
The picturesque village of Castleton (4 miles) is well worth a visit during your stay. Explore its underground showcaves before hiking to the top of Mam Tor for some truly spectacular views. The Pennine Way starts in Edale, and from here there’s a fantastic circular route that encompasses Kinder Scout, the highest point of the Peak District. As expected, the scenery is glorious and there are also some dramatic gritstone cliffs that are excellent for rock climbing. The site has a fascinating past, as it was the site of the Mass Trespass of 1932 which sparked the creation of England’s national parks.
