Enjoy a peaceful stay in this barn which has been lovingly converted in 2021 to provide couples and friends a want for nothing escape. Bring your walking boots and your bike and head off exploring the hills.

This charming barn conversion, just outside the Peak District National Park, sleeps two guests, making it an idyllic romantic bolthole. As expected, you’ll have an exceptional selection of walking routes at your fingertips, including waterside strolls at Carsington Water (1 mile) and picturesque hikes along the Tissington Trail (5 miles). The attractive village of Brassington is just 1 mile away and boasts a fine array of independent shops, as well as two delightful village inns.

The pretty barn conversion is located on the owner’s working farm and has been impeccably restored to retain the property’s character and charm. The traditional stone flooring adds a sense of style to the living areas, coupled with carefully chosen soft furnishings and accessories. Underfloor heating is a welcome addition on chilly evenings. After a good night’s sleep in the super-king-size bedroom, enjoy a hearty breakfast at the farmhouse-style dining table in the bright and airy dining area. Outside, there’s a spacious garden with far-reaching countryside views. Dine alfresco whilst watching the sun set and the cattle grazing in the nearby fields.

Carsington Water is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you enjoy walking, cycling, sailing, canoeing or paddleboarding, you’ll find it all at this stunning reservoir. The traffic-free Tissington Trail follows a former railway line and is a wonderful place for cycling, as it’s relatively flat. Join it in Tissington and follow it all the way to Ashbourne, a pretty market town with cobbled streets and many independent shops and eateries. Spend a relaxing afternoon pottering around Chatsworth House (14.5 miles), on the banks of the River Derwent. The spectacular house has over 30 rooms to explore, as well as 105 acres of magnificent gardens, sweeping parkland and a vast network of walking trails. There’s also an elegant cafe serving traditional afternoon tea.

  • 1 bedroom - super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into a twin upon request)
  • 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC
  • Electric oven and gas hob, fridge, microwave and washing machine
  • Smart TV in the lounge
  • Garden with large patio and seating

We loved the bath and very comfortable bed. Very spacious accommodation with beautiful view. In the photo it looked a little bleak, but in reality its great. Very handy parking beside cottage. Location is perfect for numerous cycle rides and walks. Somewhere to store bikes is also provided.

This beautiful cottage, on a working farm, suited us perfectly. Spotlessly clean, comfortable, well-equipped and in a quiet location with great views around the property. Anne and David were very friendly and attentive hosts, without being intrusive. After a great day out, we always looked forward to coming "home" to the Old Barn. We'll be back sooRead moren. Hide

Lovely clean cottage having recently been refurbished set in a quiet rural area. We Although on a working farm it was very quiet and we had disturbances ( even though two calves were born whilst we were there! ). Lovely view out to the back and if its gets warm its a nice place to sit of an evening. Would definitely recommend.

Such a well situated holiday cottage. Very clean and comfortable, well equipped and everything was in perfect working order. Enjoyed a wonderful holiday here with so much to do in the area. Then back to the cottage on an evening to sit out and enjoy the far reaching views, listening to the lambs in the fields. Heaven !!!!

Spectacular view across the countryside from the patio area. Very peaceful location. We expected to hear the activities of the working farm but heard nothing during our stay. High quality finish to a well thought out barn conversion.
