Property code: PK547

This old blacksmiths cottage offers space and tranquillity within a stone’s throw of the popular Derbyshire village of Ashford in the Water. Includes a peaceful riverside location with meadow views.

From the property, guests can enjoy a short stroll to the old marble quarrying village of Ashford in the Water. Here, you’ll find plenty of places to shop, eat and relax beside the babbling River Wye. Nestled in the heart of the national park, walkers will enjoy exploring the contrasting scenery of the higher and wilder Dark Peak in the north and the gently rolling limestone dales of White Peak in the south.

Inside, an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area welcomes you into the cottage. With slate floors and walls of a warm light shade throughout, this is an inviting space to enjoy your evening meal, a game at the coffee table or a peaceful read on the sofa. The coal effect stove and exposed beam add character to this large room, while the kitchen is light and airy with everything you should need throughout your stay. Also on this floor is a cloakroom and downstairs toilet. Upstairs, the bedroom has been painted in the same inviting light airy shade, and a vaulted ceiling, pretty stained glass windows and an exposed beam add more character. Adjoining the bedroom is the shower room with shower cubicle, hand basin and toilet. Parking is by the cottage.

Outside, the private garden is bordered by the free-flowing River Wye. With an abundance of wildlife and views across the weir to the meadow beyond, this is a soothing setting for your afternoon cup of tea or evening drink.

The cottage is in a perfect location, beautiful and peaceful. We had our own private garden on the river with the ducks and chickens coming to visit us. It is definitely the best location we have been to. The facilities were very modern, the lighting was a nice touch. I loved watching Netflix and just sitting outside by the river. Kirstie made everRead moreything perfect and am truest grateful for baking this a really nice stay with us. Dont think I will ever find a nicer cottage and garden than this. Hide

In a lovely spot by the river. Loved the chickens and ducks being around. Well equipped and warm cottage. Local shop, tearoom and pub all a few yards away. Plus an hourly bus service to Buxton and Matlock.

The property generally was good although the bathroom area was very small but that is the way the property is laid out. The garden fronted onto the river and and the location could not be bettered.

A truly wonderful stay. The Smithy itself is lovely and unique. The garden by the river is gorgeous - a perfect spot for a drink/tea/food. The cottage is very comfortable and the shower is wonderful. Kirstie was brilliant. She provided us not only with routes for walking, but fresh eggs from her chickens and grain to feed the ducks and chickens, whRead moreich we loved. The area itself is great - near Chatsworth and lots of great walks and views. Felt very safe and clean in covid times. Hide
