  • A great location for exploring the Peak District
Property code: PK478

Set your sights on the Hope Valley for an unforgettable staycation surrounded by heather-strewn moorland, luscious green hills and pretty villages. Elevated above the countryside with views of rolling fields bordered by dry-stone walls, this couple’s retreat is packed with character and offers a comfortable base for exploring the great outdoors. Navigate a myriad of trails from your doorstep, refuelling with delicious pub lunches and local ales before returning to unwind by the wood burner.

Rustic and charming with a traditional stone exterior, wooden beams and a stone fireplace that hosts a wood burner, your accommodation is open-plan and relaxing. There’s a kitchen with all the gadgets you need to rustle up a feast, which you can enjoy at the table or curled up on the sofa. The bedroom is carefully styled for a restful night’s sleep upstairs, and there’s an en-suite bathroom for soaking tired limbs. You’ll be able to take in the views from your pretty patio area, and there’s off-road parking for one car.

Whether you are keen to unravel the fascinating history of the area or can’t wait to tackle a bracing walk across the rugged landscape, this peaceful corner of the Peak District is perfect for your explorations. The tranquil hamlet of Highcliffe is rural and wild, located on the cusp of Eyam, a plague village with a tragic past and more than a few throwbacks to Saxon times. Further afield, Castleton (10.5 miles) is the starting point for the iconic Pennine Way, a must for walkers of all abilities. The Hope Valley is arguably one of the most scenic landscapes in the entire national park, so why not grab a map and pack up a picnic and begin your adventures.

Perfect cottage plus our 2 dogs. Thoroughly enjoyed this idillic cozy cottage. Everything you could want/need is catered for. Spacious, well equipped, couldnt ask for more. Shops in Eyam, lovely cafes, and gift shops. Walks are endless, breathtaking views. So nice to be surrounded by natural beauty, unspoilt countryside. Just bliss.

A fantastic cosy, little cottage, ideal for a couple and great for those with smaller dogs, as dog friendly. Situated up a steep-ish hill about a km from Eyam. We really enjoyed our stay here and have already discussed re-booking. The cottage was lovely, very comfortable and cosy for the 2 of us. We found it to be well equipped. The location was fantastic, not too far from anywhere and was very peaceful, just what we were looking for. We have recommended this property to our friends and family.

A very comfortable cottage in a wonderful position. It is extremely well equipped and the milk left in the fridge was very welcome. Eggs were left too but we didnt use them. The parking was a bit tight with our WAV but we managed and my husband got the manoeuvre mastered quickly. It is only possible to drive in from one direction but, if you come fRead morerom Eyam there is a turning place just up the road passed the cottage and the beautiful scenery further up on the left. A lovely, cosy cottage in a great location, the only real issue was the lack of wi-fi. We did get a good mobile signal, but if like us, you use the internet for researching places to visit, planning trips, and keeping in touch with friends and family, you'll need a good mobile data package.
