This is the spot where you can spend cosy evenings relaxing after a day spent exploring the exceptional countryside nearby. Leading off the lounge, the double bedroom also has a sofa bed, suitable for a child, and there is a bathroom with a shower over the bath. Wrapping around the cottage, the enclosed patio is a fabulous place to sit and take in the wonderful views or partake in an al fresco meal.

From your cottage you can stroll to the village pub, shop and tearooms, as well as its iconic Sheepwash Bridge. Walk to the bustling market town of Bakewell (1.5 miles) for its independent shops, foodie destinations and Monday market – not forgetting to try the renowned Bakewell Pudding – or venture out into the Peaks and enjoy the spectacular scenery of the National Park. There are hikes long and short from Ashford-in-the-Water, and a great one to try is the Monsal Trail, a cycling and walking path through valleys, fells and hills, with caves, viaducts, old mills and mine workings, and some spectacular views.

What a wonderful cottage and such a beautiful location, we were lucky for a dry week and had plenty of wonderful walks from the cottage to Bakewell (multiple routes), Monsal Head, Cressbrook Dale and visits to Mam Tor / Castleton and Over Haddon. Wed definitely consider returning to both the cottage and Ashford in the Water. Thank you. Hide

A lovely location in the middle of a tranquil village with a wide variety of local attractions within easy reach. The rooms were very clean, warm and comfortable - great for a short or longer visit. Central heating. if required, very effective and you'll be cosy and warm whatever the weather.

For the two of us plus our dog it was an excellent choice of cottage. One poster said the bed was uncomfortable but it wasn't for us. Another said the parking was not good for a long car but our long Sorrento estate fitted in nicely. We had a little problem but one phone call to the owner and she was there within five minutes which was excellent. WRead moree like it Hide

The cottage is well located in a beautiful little village which has a pub The Bull which is a great friendly place with good food. It is comfortable enough for a short stay, quite basic really. Hide

Cosy cottage, on a steep hill but within easy access to lots of walking trails. There is parking in front of the garage doors but a large car probably won't fit, however there's Street parking round the corner. It's such a lovely quiet village you probably don't have to worry about it. The front door is along to the side of the cottage (which is alRead moreso a quiet public footpath) then 2 small steps down, not really a problem. Village shop for basics but Aldi not too far away.
