A charming cottage set in a rural location with spectacular walks, cycle trails and bridle paths on its doorstep making it the perfect bolthole for explorers on foot, bike or noble steed.

Situated in The Dark Peak on the north western edge of the Peak National Park this is one of four cottages set in this delightful rural setting with rolling views towards Mam Tor and beyond. Take in a visit to Castleton with its caves and also Peveril Castle. There are also a variety of eating places for you to enjoy during your stay. The owners have a number of animals on site including horses and alpacas.

Similar in style and character to the Irishman’s cottage this good sized cottage is again full of charm and character. This rural location is an ideal base from which to explore this area of the Peak National Park with some excellent walking from the doorstep and in nearby Edale at the beginning of the Pennine Way. You can visit the mines at Castleton or take in the culture of Buxton with the theatre opera house and various other attractions. It is possible for up to 12 people to dine together in another property onsite. You enter the accommodation which has been turned upside down into the main entrance hallway off which are the two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a double bed and benefits from the views down the valley the second bedroom has two single beds. There is also a bathroom on this floor with a ‘walk in shower’ hand basin and toilet. The oak staircase takes you to the first floor which has a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams into the spacious and open plan kitchen dining and lounge area. The room has a fireplace with a log burning stove and enjoys some outstanding views down the valley. The second bathroom on this floor has a bath with hand shower toilet and hand basin the vaulted beam ceiling adding further to its charm.

There is a garden area for the cottage which takes in the sun during the early part of the day and is behind the cottage looking directly onto the views down the valley.

Guests are welcome to wander over to the paddocks where the owners’ horses and alpacas graze. If you’re travelling in a larger party, why not book all four cottages at this location to accommodate 16 people in total.

The Top Tack is situated in a stunning location with plenty of walks from the door and close to the lovely towns of Castletown and Bakewell. The accommodation was cosy, spacious and had everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. We would highly recommend and we look forward to returning next year.

This cottage was amazing. we loved its quirky ness and open views of the surrounding country side. this was mainly due to the sitting room being on the top floor. Great country feel despite lovely little villages close by and many interesting walks not far away to keep us busy for the week thank you

A really lovely warm cosy cottage in a beautiful location. Was perfect for our family Christmas. Well equipped and very comfortable. Only hitch was v poor WiFi which was fine for us for a few days but would've got more moaning from the kids longer term!

Beautiful cottage! Views from the back garden are so lovely. We had a meal at the no car cafe on one of the evenings which was gorgeous. Run by a lovely family who have put lots in place to ensure everyones safety. We will be back!

Great location, close to a wide network of walking trails, proximity to Kinder Scout, Castleton, Edale. Perfect option for self-catered holiday. The property owners are clearly putting serious consideration into coronavirus protections for peace of mind as well.

Gorgeous location, so so quiet. As we holidayed in November, the night sky on crisp cold nights were a sight to behold due to no light pollution. Owners were very friendly and couldnt do enough for us.
