With beautiful views over the West Yorkshire countryside, this charming cottage provides the perfect base for families and couples to explore West Yorkshire and the Peak District.

This charming cottage with spectacular views of the West Yorkshire countryside, is the perfect place to base yourself for a busy holiday near to the Peak District. It sleeps four guests and welcomes two dogs, so no one has to miss out on the adventures. There is plenty of space for safely storing bikes, and there are numerous walks and cycle routes nearby.

 

Oozing with traditional and character features such as beams and stone floors, this is a superb, spacious cottage spread over three floors. Fire up the wood burner in the lounge/diner where you can get some rest after a busy day exploring the countryside. The two bedrooms and a lovely, contemporary bathroom are situated on the first floor, while up on the second floor with its sloping ceiling is a further living space/snug area. There is a TV and a selection of board games and it’s an ideal spot for taking time out with a good book. Outside is a large terrace with seating, a BBQ and remarkable views across the rolling countryside beyond. There is also a triple undercover bike stand to store your bicycles.

 

The village of Slaithwaite is just down the road and has a good mix of shops, bars and restaurants for you to peruse in your downtime. There are plenty of walking and cycling routes from Slaithwaite, heading along the canals or winding into the countryside. The northern edge of the Peak District is 1 mile from here, and your options for mountain biking, hiking and fell trekking are numerous. Go chasing waterfalls at Folly Dolly Falls (4.5 miles), enjoy miles of footpaths and breathtaking views at Marsden Moor (3.5 miles) or join the superb Pennine Way.

A lovely cottage tastefully decorated with all amenities and very well equipped. Lovely welcome pack for both humans and dogs, Nice south facing outside space for enjoying a rest and a glass of wine after a busy day. Easy access for days out to local attractions. We visited Chatsworth House and Yorkshire Sculpture Park both reached by car in under Read morean hour. Nice walks from the cottage and local pub within walking distance. The cottage was just perfectwe enjoyed the atmosphere, the location and being able to feel at home. There is plenty of walk for dogs and family, and the cottage has everything we needed for making our holiday perfect. Kids loved it and are still stalking about it.

Stayed here for 3 nights with my two kids as I was visiting friends in the area. Loved it so much that we stayed another night. Super clean, with everything you could want, in a lovely area especially for dog walking with great views. Roger was easy to get hold of if needed and very helpful. We had a really nice time and highly recommend this cottage. The comforts of a deep bath which is my favourite. The open fireplace with quaint features made us feel cozy. We slept well and a good sleep.! There are impressive views from the cottage and the surrounding district. Met the owners briefly, nice couple. Stunning views from the cottage and all the home comforts we could want. Well equipped kitchen, plenty of space in the sitting room for 4 adults to relax plus the cosy warmth from the wood burner. Roger was a great host, very responsive and we'll definitely be back.

We really enjoyed our few days at the cottage,it was so comfortable and cozy and had everything we needed. The welcome pack was a very kind and thoughtful gesture and our dogs loved the treats. Cannot recommend Holme Cottage enough. Location is absolutely stunning with a lovely pub (Rose & Crown) literally up the road and a lovely town (Slaithwaite) literally down the road. The cottage itself has everything you could wish for even filtered water on tap. We had a lovely week in this cottage, Roger and Carla gave us a wonderful welcome and supplied a locally sourced welcome pack. The cottage was spotless and very well equipped. The location is stunning and perfect for family walks with the dog. Slawit has plenty of lovely places to eat and drink too, we loved Rumpus. We had a lovely stay here for a week. The cottage was clean, well equipped and comfortable. There was a fantastic welcome pack on arrival and a very warm welcome from the owners. The location is excellent for both the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales plus only a 5 minute walk from a lovely pub.

Cottage was immaculate and the welcome pack a thoughtful addition. Roger and his wife met us on an arrival and made us feel really welcome. The people in the neighbouring cottages also helped us during the week finding places to visit and good local restaurants.

Would highly recommend this beautiful cottage. As a family of four we had loads of space & the cottage is fully fitted with all amenities you could need. There is a fab space at the top of the cottage that was perfect for our children to play. From the welcome pack to the home grown lettuce and cucumber, from the beautiful and well equipped cottage to the lovingly tended outside space, our stay at Upper Holme Cottage was wonderful. Roger and Carla, the hosts, have opened up their beautiful home to guests and we would recommend it to anyone. We will be coming back!
