A modern, tastefully finished apartment sitting in the heart of the breathtaking Holme Valley, this picture-postcard town is popular with walkers and wildlife lovers alike. A fantastic retreat for keen walking or cycling groups up to four.
This glorious apartment, just outside the Peak District National Park, sleeps four guests, making it perfect for a small family retreat or a walking holiday with friends. You’ll have a fantastic selection of walking and cycling routes to choose from, ranging from a gentle waterside stroll along the canal in Marsden (3 miles) to an exhilarating ramble across Marsden Moor (3 miles). Keen cyclists will enjoy the traffic-free Longdendale Trail, which can be joined 14 miles away.
The first-floor apartment is adjacent to the owner’s pub, meaning you’ll have access to the pub garden which boasts spectacular views across open moorland. The property is accessed via a shared entrance, followed by a flight of stairs. Once inside, discover a bright and airy living space comprising a lounge/kitchen/diner. The vaulted ceiling creates a real sense of space, whilst the exposed beams add character. Curl up on the plump sofas with a glass of wine after a day of exploring, to watch the Smart TV or simply gaze out the windows at the stunning scenery. The kitchen area has everything you need to rustle up a tasty meal to enjoy together around the dining table. Both bedrooms are impeccably decorated and provide wonderful countryside views.
Marsden Moor National Trust offers 5,000 acres of rugged moorland. Join one of the footpaths, many of which take you along stretches of the Pennine Way, or climb to the summit of Pule Hill for breathtaking 360-degree views. The Longdendale Trail is perfect for cyclists, as it follows a disused railway line, meaning it is fairly flat. The route starts in Hadfield and follows a series of pretty reservoirs. Those who enjoyed the TV programme Last of the Summer Wine will love wandering around Holmfirth (4.5 miles), where you can visit many of the iconic filming locations.
