Meltham itself offers a local supermarket, Chinese takeaway, three pubs, a post office, a sports club and an 18-hole golf course. The small towns of Holmfirth, Slaithwaite and Marsden are most attractive and have local shops and tearooms. Travelling on foot to the area is no problem either, with the station just 2 miles away with lines to Leeds and Manchester.
