Head to this charming holiday home in the Derbyshire market town of Wirksworth and enjoying a relaxing break for two. Set at the heart of the town, just 2 miles from the edge of the Peak District National Park, this traditional cottage could be ideal for a couple keen on combining excursions out into the picturesque outdoors with the convenience of being close to shops, eateries and attractions.
Step into the inviting cottage, with its beams and exposed stonework, to find a relaxing lounge in which to spend cosy evenings in. Light the wood burner, choose a film to watch on TV or a DVD or select a book to read or game to play during your stay. Discover the kitchen has everything you need to whip up delicious dinners for two with the fresh foods you have bought in town. Dine at the table in here then climb the steep, cottage-style stairs to find the double bedroom and bathroom. Follow a path from the back of the cottage up to the small garden. Enjoy a quiet cup of tea and a slice of cake out here on sunny afternoons. Parking can be found a short walk away, subject to availability.
Enjoy being in Wirksworth, where you can potter round the shops to your heart’s content. Take a steam train journey, along the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, from the town too. Head just outside Wirksworth, about 0.5 miles, to visit the acclaimed StarDisc, a 21st-century stone circle and celestial amphitheatre, with a star chart carved into black granite. Head 5 miles out of town to the National Tramway Museum at Crich, where you can ride on an old-style tram, wander in the grounds to enjoy the views, see a period village scene and take in a sculpture trail.
