Situated in a fantastically rural location and brimming with rustic charm, this stone cottage, sleeping four, is among a cluster of similar properties that all share the same impressive views. Ashford in the Water is a mere 0.5-mile walk away, where you can stroll through the village, play Poohsticks from the bridge and enjoy some local fare in one of two village pubs. Bakewell is 2 miles away and is a treasure trove of shops, restaurants and historical remnants, and you won’t be far from the majestic Chatsworth House if you fancy stepping back in time and exploring this period property.

Imagine how relaxed you’ll feel when you step inside to find a pleasant property with timber beams, exposed stone and a feature fireplace complete with a wood burner for chilly evenings. Whether you are curled up in the lounge or whipping up something delicious in the kitchen, you and your party of four are sure to do so in comfort. The two bedrooms are upstairs and have everything you need for a restful night’s sleep, one of which has the bonus of an en-suite bathroom. Completing the property is a family bathroom and off-road parking.

For families and friendship groups alike, the sheer number of walks available from your doorstep is guaranteed to impress. Riverside walks from the nearby village are just as manageable for guests with little legs or four paws, and the Monsal Dale Walk is a traffic-free way to soak up your surroundings, passing the imposing Headstone Viaduct as you go. If you are still craving an adrenaline rush, then the Go Ape aerial extravaganza at Buxton 12 miles away is perfect for you. Failing that, head deep underground investigating the caves at Poole’s Cavern and Buxton Country Park (also 12 miles).

What a lovely little cottage in a small yard with three other properties, yet secluded if you wanted privacy. This was just perfect for us to walk the White Peak Way (84 miles) with two friends. The cottage was everything and more what we expected, enabling us to unwind and relax comfortably in the evenings. The owner popped over to check all was oRead morek but was otherwise unobtrusive, yet on hand if needed just across the field. We will definitely be booking again. Hide

Nothing was too much trouble for Sarah, the owner. She responded to our requests and suggested good pubs in the vicinity. Wed certainly stay here again.

Had a lovely week and were blessed with gorgeous weather. The little village of Ashford in the Water is extremely pretty and has a pub, cafe and village store. Able to walk to Bakewell easily and lots of beautiful walks in the area. Our daughter joined us just for the weekend so the only suggestion is that another armchair is required for 4 people Read moreusing the property. Hide

Great location, easy walk into the village with its friendly pub. Lots of other walks on the doorstep, including a circular walk to Bakewell, we barely used the car. Chatsworth farm shop is well worth a visit for supplies. Dog friendly although care is needed - there were cattle with young calves in the adjacent field so we avoided using the footpaRead moreth which runs through it. Not ideal for a party of 4 adults - could do with another armchair Hide

Really lovely cottage, all clean and tidy and spacious. Well equipped kitchen and comfy beds, with new bathrooms too. In a lovely setting. Had read previous reviews about the brewery next door being noisy, but we didnt hear a thing during our stay. Host was lovely and accommodating. Lovely rural setting with a 15-20 minute walk into a lovely villagRead moree, and very close to beautiful Bakewell too. Absolutely recommend if you want a quiet getaway. Hide
