Escape to this stylish, stone built house crammed with character, set in this peaceful Peak District village, excellent for keen walkers and nature lovers.

Deep in the Derbyshire Dales, this quintessential stone-built house is the perfect base from which to explore this stunning area on foot or by bicycle. Only a short walk from the upper reaches of Dovedale and Manifold Valley in the spectacular Peak District National Park, there is plenty to keep every type of adventurer busy, from hiking to climbing, kayaking and mountain biking. Afterwards, return to this welcoming retreat to warm up beside the roaring wood burner or enjoy a BBQ in the picturesque garden.

Brimming with character and charm, this sympathetically modernised property retains exposed beams, stone mullion windows and two fantastic inglenook fireplaces. The country-style kitchen is equipped with all your culinary needs, while a handy utility room is a great place for drying off wet boots and paws. Tuck into family feasts in the grand dining room with its warming wood burner and delightful window seat before sinking into one of the inviting sofas in the lounge while a second wood burner keeps you warm and cosy. Upstairs, three spacious bedrooms ensure a restful night’s sleep for all, while the free-standing bath is the perfect place to soothe tired muscles at the end of the day. Heading outside, the delightful cottage garden bordered by a dry-stone wall and mature trees is a peaceful spot for al fresco dining.

The unspoilt village of Wetton makes a great base for any keen adventurer - after a long day, grab a restorative bite to eat in the 14th-century pub or charming tearoom. Set out on foot to take on the wonderful Dovedale, discovering its towering limestone crags, grassy slopes and wildflower meadows, or visit Thor’s Cave (1 mile) with its Stone Age history and fabulous views. While adrenaline junkies spend a day at Alton Towers, just 12 miles away, those in search of some local culture should head for Chatsworth House, 19 miles away.

We had a really comfortable stay in this home from home house. There is plenty to do locally for all ages and interests. Particularly good for cyclists, walkers and food lovers. Our dog was made very welcome and even had her own towels. Would definitely recommend Ivy House.

We were delighted with Ivy Cottage - a comfortable, well appointed cottage in a quiet, rural village. A 2 minute walk to a friendly local pub providing good food and lovely walks on your doorstep. The only thing we found lacking was an egg cup ;-) It would help the owners if guests left the property as they would wish to find it as we discovered a Read morefilthy BBQ and full recycling bins. Apart from that, this makes a great base to explore the Peak District. Hide

Lovely cottage in a lovely situation. Great walks nearby, visiting Thor's cave a must. The bunk bed room is really only suitable for children, not my 6ft, 30 year old son. I would strongly suggest 2 smaller online orders rather than one large one on arrival as the fridge space is extremely limited. Our dog Tina enjoyed the front and back garden, anRead mored we enjoyed the al fresco dining and the BBQ. We even tried out the cocktail cabinet - what a life! Morning breakfast in the sun, wonderful! Hide

A beautiful cottage in a perfect location. It has been decorated beautifully and has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. It wasnt quite as clean as it could be but other than that it is highly recommended.

Ivy House was a fantastic find. The property description really doesnt do it justice - the cottage is so well equipped with everything you could need. the location is great - some fabuous walks right on the doorstep, a local pub with food a few steps away and a super helpful owner. Would definitely recommend and we plan to go back again soon.
