Excellent location, very beautiful village, ideal for places to visit. The front garden not ideal very overgrown and unkempt. Not suitable for our small dog. Especially due to front gate leading straight onto busy road - no path directly outside front gate. The cottage itself has everything you could possibly need.

We had a lovely week here. It is small, with only one living space which was fine for 2 adults and our toddler but wouldn't fit more than that. It was warm and comfortable. Good value for money, we really liked the modern feel, and the coffee machine! The double bed was on the smaller side but perfectly comfortable. The location is ideal, Bakewell Read moreis walkable and a supermarket near by. Lots of beautiful walks and places to go. The road is quite busy and a bit noisy but not too bad. Hide

Lovely cottage in stunning surroundings. The cottage is perfect for two people and one dog. Fantastic walking from the doorstep and further afield. Although rural (which is exactly what we wanted) further amenities are easily accessible. It was our first trip to the Peak District but it definitely wont be our last!

The cottage whilst extremely small was well equipped and also very clean. The main things I would change are as follows:- 1. The property was very cold on arrival. the 'fire' was not a log burner as I assumed from the photos but an electric fire with minimal output. 2. Likewise, I didn't really appreciate the text message on the departure day statiRead moreng that the cleaners would be arriving between 9.45 - 10am. Checkout was known to be from 10, earlier enough anyway so this seemed a tactic! Hide

Lovely clean characterful cottage, in Ashford in the Water perfectly positioned for the peaks for all sight seeing and walking. We would definitely stay again. We had a lovely time staying at The Lilac Cottage. The cottage is exactly what we were after, and had everything we needed for a weekend away in the countryside with our dog. Ashford in the Water is a beautiful little village and the local pub serves great food. Everyone was so welcoming and lovely - we will definitely return.

Snug accommodation set up, in reality, for 2+1. Well appointed, a very generous welcome pack. Perfect location for our needs (difficulty finding local high speed electric car points). It would have been useful to know that, while dogs are welcome, they are not welcome on furniture in advance (before we made our booking in what we need to know).
