  • Nestled under Winn Hill in the Hope Valley area of Derbyshire National Park
  • Half a mile away from the village of Hope, which includes a pub, grocery shop, post office and train station

Property code: PK431

Traditional barn conversion set in an elevated position overlooking stunning countryside and mature gardens and grounds. Located just half a mile from the pub, shops and amenities in Hope.

Choose the Hope Valley for an unforgettable break exploring one of the most picturesque landscapes in the UK. Best known for its open moorland, craggy tors and traditional stone properties, this property is ideal for a family or two couples. A must for intrepid explorers, this quirky cottage is perched on the hillside just 0.5 miles from Hope and has easy access to walking routes such as The Pennine Way. Return for drinks in the garden and watch the sunset, tucking into your evening meal alfresco.

Inside, your accommodation sleeps four and is laid out in a reverse-level style so you can make the most of the fabulous views from the windows. The upstairs living space exudes character with eaves, beams and trusses, providing a cosy atmosphere for enjoying family meals and watching TV. Both bedrooms are comfortable and welcoming after a busy day roaming the countryside, and completing the property is a first-floor bathroom for long soaks. Grab your morning coffee and settle down to appreciate the vistas from the orchard garden.

A national park with two distinct personalities: the wild open moors and mysterious bogs of the Dark Peak to the north are within easy reach, as are the soft rolling valleys and limestone caves of the White Peak to the south. Not only will you have oodles of walks and cycling opportunities on your doorstep, but there’s also kayaking, fishing, and caving too. If you are up for a challenge, the tumultuous heights of Kinder Scout beckon 8 miles away, or you can bask in the charm of a quintessential village such as Edale 6 miles away. From here you can hop on board the Manchester to Sheffield railway and take in the impressive scenery, returning for tea and cake in the pretty cafe.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Beautiful location! Perfectly situated for both hillwalking and the lovely amenities in Hope. The house is warm, cosy and clean. Comfortable beds and a good shower. I hope to return in future.

Sam's stable is exactly as advertised. Well presented, clean and comfortable. Ideal base for walking, we didn't use our car all week.

Great week's break at Sam's Stable. Perfect location for walking. We did not travel more than 20 mins from the accommodation to walk in different scenery each time. Sam's Stable was snug, comfortable and exactly as we wished. It was between two villages with plenty of food choices but secluded enough to believe you were on your own. 4 stars for equRead moreipment as oven decals were worn away so had to guess when using it. BUT, this should change as I am sending the owner a user manual found on the net. Hide

Super two bedroom accommodation in an elevated position with great views. Owners are lovely and nearby on working farm. Excellent location for hope valley. Upside down conversion with everything working as it should. Not the biggest but strong value for money and ideal base for walking and exploring surrounding area.

We've been coming to the same cottage for 5 years. The location is ideal for walking with easy access to rail and buses for walks back from further afield. It's quiet and the views from upstairs are stunning, with access to shops a short walk across the fields.

Lovely cosy cottage with fantastic views. The kitchen equipment was excellent everything you might need. Comfy double bed and good wardrobe space. Plenty of hot water and heating more than adequate. We know and love this area well , so walked straight from the cottage and enjoyed a different walk every day of the week we stayed here. Being Autumn wRead moree found good walking boots and walking poles a must as very muddy in places. Suitable for walkers that enjoy being a bit off the beaten track. Hide

The cottage is in a amazing location, plenty of room for the dogs to run around and fab views. Beds were comfy, however it is a little tired and basic. The owner was on hand most of the time but it would have been useful to have had info on recycling, rubbish etc. Loads to see and do in area and some great coffee shops/pubs

Lovely costage in a great central peak district location. Really secluded and quiet but only a short drive, or pleasant walk, into Hope, and great walking and biking from the door. Well equipped, lovely view from the lounge. Nice shared grounds with picnic tables.
