Standing in five acres of the owners’ beautiful grounds of Moorfield House this former billiard hall is tucked away in the mature gardens, providing a relaxing escape with surrounding countryside.

There is so much to see and do, with the Pennine Way within two miles and the peaks of Kinder Scout and Bleaklow within easy reach. The market town of Glossop, with its transport links to Manchester and local towns is also close by. Other attractions further afield include the Blue John Mines, Treak Cliff Cavern and Speedwell Cavern, a flooded underground cave system that is explored by boat. Well worth a visit is Lyme Park and Hall where Pride and Prejudice was filmed in 1995 and Peveril Castle, situated near Castleton built in 1080. Derwent Valley with a picturesque series of dams and reservoirs where the 'dam busters' trained. In the immediate vicinity of Moorfield are the hills, valleys and streams that make up The Peak District National Park.

Stepping into the stunning open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner which is incredibly spacious, the kitchen area offers electric oven and hob, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge and there is a dining table large enough to comfortably seat four people. Leading onto the lounge area with comfortable seating, reclining sofa and double sofa bed, TV/DVD and table football for some competitive fun, the huge windows frame the stunning gardens that surround you. The downstairs bathroom offers a shower over bath and WC. Meandering up the feature staircase to the mezzanine floor which offers a king-size bed, hanging space for clothes and a dressing area. Feel like the king or queen of the castle looking over the accommodation below, with the stunning carved beams sweeping over the bed providing a very characterful escape.

Heading outside, there is a patio area which guests are welcome to use and enjoy the summer nights with a relaxing drink and watch the birds in the mature trees that surround you. There is ample off-road parking directly outside the property.

Property was well equipped and warm to come back to at the end of the day. Great peaceful location with direct access to the Western edge of the peak district. Glossop is a nice town with everything you need.

An ideal location if you wish to protect yourselves from viruses with a spacious warm and comfortable lounge, an extensive well kept garden to view or walk around. We had been there two day without seeing another person. when we did venture out there were beautiful rides from the main gates around the peaks in Autumn. A welcome escape.

An unusual characterful property. Very well equipped, comfortable and spotlessly clean throughout. The grounds are a delight.

We absolutely loved our time at the Old Billard Room. The house is absolutely stunning, and so are the grounds. It's a 15 min drive (tops) into Glossop and easy to get taxis there and back. The owners were very friendly and responded to our messages with questions quickly. Overall, would definitely recommend a stay here!

The Old Billiard Room is a beautiful property in fabulous grounds. We loved the privacy and being able to watch the wildlife from the windows. Overall it was very well appointed and comfortable. We did not find the glass ceiling an issue (as mentioned by others). The fan provided in the bedroom area was great as it got quite hot after a sunny day. Ideally situated being within a short distance of Glossop which will cater for most things you may need to buy and also situated in a rural location that will suit most people who like a high degree of peace and quiet and isolation.

We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the surroundings of the cottage. However one needs to retire early in de evening as the ceiling of the cottage is made of (beautiful) glass and you wake up at the crack of dawn. This can easily be solved by providing a eye mask like you get in an aeroplane.

It was a very nice setting but it was quite isolated, down a very narrow lane. The room was clean, tidy and well maintained and the bed was comfortable. However dont stay there in high summer unless you dont wake with daylight as the enormous cupola makes it very bright early in the morning ie 3-4 o clock

Although attached to the main house, the accommodation is very private and quiet. It felt like we had the garden to ourselves. However the owners were only next door if we needed anything. They were very helpful and friendly. Glossop is a 30 min walk mainly downhill to get there but obviously this means an uphill walk home so on a couple of occasioRead morens we got a taxi back which cost around 8. Hide
