Self-catering holiday cottages to rent in the Chesterfield Region

For Peak District self-catering holidays, why not stay in the north-east area? This north east corner combines the twin benefits of superb countryside and a major town and city, with all the facilities they have to offer.

High heath moorlands and gritstone villages characterise this part of the Peak District, with the three-mile long Stanage Edge creating an impressive skyline. Villages such as Baslow and Grindleford straddle the lovely river Derwent as it follows its route southwards, while further north a series of reservoirs catch rainwater from the moors to serve the nearby city. There are numerous paths to walk over moorland and through woods, with far-reaching vistas – such as the appropriately named ‘Surprise View’ near Longshaw. Sheffield’s theatres, museums, shops, restaurants and sporting facilities are easy to reach from here; never more than half an hour away it is a world apart.
