Hope is known to locals for the chimney of the large cement works situated on the periphery of the village. Lying at the junction of the River Noe and Peakshole Water, where the Edale valley meets the wider Hope Valley. The village centres on a lovely 14th century church, complete with a Norman font. Overlooking Hope, as well as other pretty nearby villages like Aston and Bradwell, are the peaks of Losehill and Win Hill – don’t miss a walk along the ridge between Mam Tor and Losehill - it is one of the great walks of the Peak District.
